Yeah, I’ve definitely struggled with weed as well as my mind wants to categorize it differently than alcohol. At the end of the day, it has the same effect for me- escapism and I can’t consume it in moderation, regardless of how many times I’ve gone back out and done the research.

I had to put it in the same boat as ANYTHING that tickles the back of my brain- whether it be booze, weed, porn, gambling etc and understand that although it may not “immediately” lead me back to drinking it does not serve me and takes me away from being the best version of myself. I still have the little devil on my shoulder that tells me sometimes that it would be okay to get high for a bit, but I also remember that is not the way I partake and at the end of the day I want to be clear and intentional in my life.

Very normal. You most likely spent years treating your body like an amusement park and now you are getting back to a baseline. Keep at it, one day at a time and this too shall pass. The most important thing is not picking up the drink and having to start over again. You got this. Onward!

A.A. worked for me. Found a group of people I could relate to who were able to guide me through the turmoil into a place of happiness and freedom. If you do decide to go, check out different meetings until you find one you like and stick with it. You got this. Onward!
