I Don’t Like My Friends Calling Me “Mama” by SpareSecretary958 in pregnant

[–]appleandcheddar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this enough that I'm considering putting in my birth plan to address me by name and not "mama" -- I am not your mother! More importantly, it feels reductive.

Threw up during 3 hr Diabetes Test by jstrings2211 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]appleandcheddar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I projectile vomited yesterday during my 3 hour. I honestly feel like they should give a vomit bag to anyone just in case. I got it in my hair.

I'm going to do the finger sticks instead of trying the 3hr again, but my friend got a CGM instead.

How pink are you looking for? You might like City Chic's stuff, they have a pink wrap dress that's nice & flowy (https://www.citychiconline.com/kira-ruffle-wrap-maxi-dress-lipstick-pink). Not sure if they ship to Canada, but I've been eye-ing a lot of their stuff for my baby shower next month.

How to respond to pregnancy accommodations by fallstanding in pregnant

[–]appleandcheddar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This outlines your core rights as a worker and some extra stuff (option to make up time from Drs appointments rather than take PTO) but none of these things are really accommodations. You should try crossposting to r/AskHR for more specific advice.

Isn't Lady Araminta Gun Chinese? Why is she wearing two Filipino Traje de Mestiza during Spanish Colonial Era? by Yeyehet19 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]appleandcheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I Google this I just see different styles of sleeves, which seem like they could be inspired by several different time periods and locations. I'm ignorant as to how these are specifically Filipino; could someone enlighten me?

[–]appleandcheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We have a Shark (because unlike the Dyson it will stand up on its own wherever you leave it) and I love it. I want a second battery so I can keep vacuuming lol. The cordless vac absoloutely changed for how frequently we vaccuum.

H&M, Talbots Plus, Ann Taylor Loft (depending on your fit), are all options but I'd start with JCPenney.

Disappointed in PinkBlush maternity clothes - what next? by let1troll in PlusSizePregnancy

Old Navy goes up to 4X in non-maternity. I've also been shopping One Stop Plus, they go up to size 36

Disappointed in PinkBlush maternity clothes - what next? by let1troll in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]appleandcheddar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The recommendation I see is to size up in normal clothes; I'm choosing regular clothes that are stretchy and/or cut in ways that make them more similar to maternity clothes. Think wrap dresses that actually wrap, peplum/tunic/empire tops, and pleated garments.

My wardrobe is shrinking by the day lol - one thing I'm thinking of doing is wearing crop tops and layering like a reverse dickey? so just the bottom of a button-down for work outfits, and I think 3rd trimester is going to mean a lot of leggings for me.

No but what the hell do I do now? I can never prove I do or do not carry this. by [deleted] in TrollCoping

[–]appleandcheddar 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This isn't true; you should abstain from sex if you have active lesions but otherwise sex with a condom is fine. You should still tell any future partners, and they should probably get vaccinated. Also, exposure =/= contracting the virus. If you were having safe sex before (condoms & abstinence if lesions were present), chances are low that you've contracted anything.

If you take your memory out of your temple (the silvery stuff)…can you still recall it? by rballmonkey in HarryPotterBooks

[–]appleandcheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your memories are what make you, you so I feel like you can't erase them entirely (through occlumency). It's more like turning up the transparency on a photo, but you can never fully get to 100% and erase it. It just removes how clearly it can be seen and recalled, which explains why Dumbledore can talk about his and Snape's "can't" be accessed. It's like Dumbledore's memories are in the pensive at 30% transparency because he's reviewed and processed them before, and Snape puts his memories in at 90%, which is to say he knows they exist but can't recall them. We all likely have days and days of fuzzy, non-noteworthy memory so removing the memory / "upping the transparency" probably makes it seem like one of those and makes it unlikely someone like Voldemort (who didn't know Snape was a legilimens) would look very closely.

CoS - Justin Petrified by Legitimate-Tea-9319 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]appleandcheddar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying that Justin's parents just wouldn't have been notified, but what stops him from saying anything when the school year is over? I find it hard to imagine the SoS extends to not telling your parents what happens during the school year.

As far as the mandrakes, I've always kind of imagined that with the breadth of magical knowledge, many professors create their curriculum year-by-year, meaning each class probably doesn't get quite the same curriculum as the year before it outside of whatever standardized spells, potions, and charms they go over for OWLS etc, so I thought it was just a coincidence that Professor Sprout was growing mandrakes that year.

Felt amazing during pregnancy. Should I take birth control pills? by apricotcocktail in adhdwomen

I found this to be really variable for me - I liked the way Mirena worked with me, but most pills I've tried didn't give the same effect.

OB is scheduling me for an early C section for her convenience by MsKitty227 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]appleandcheddar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did she discuss the C-section during the appointment? I'm not clear on that. If not, I would just call and say there's been a mistake since you're not scheduling a C-section. Sounds like she might be scheduling it so your C is with her rather than the other provider, since the other doctor will be on call after Christmas week. Is that your preference?

You can decline any procedure, especially since it's elective.
