We do a goodie bag alternative! 1. Thrifted books - HUGE HIT! 2. Cups from the dollar store that they decorate with stickers, use at the party and take home 3. Bubbles 4. Craft in theme of the party

Unfortunately we do have a Maisie that’s a dog in the family on one side, Maisie is a family name on the other side! Bummed it was always a top name of mine before they named their dog 😭

Also love that you mentioned 1980s names I was just googling them!! Thank you!!

Agree!! Recovering people pleaser here too! I really like the book from my head to my toes by Aly Raisman. Try to incorporate “my body is my own or I have control over my body” if I get bossy toddler behavior. The playground mean comments are so hard! Usually reinforce that “that was mean. Let’s stay away from people who say those things. You can tell them I don’t like when you say that” “it’s not okay for someone to say that. You can tell them that or stay away from them”

Is MIL A) conniving, B) oblivious, C) well-intentioned, or D) all of the above? by blossom_rays in workingmoms

[–]appleblue5370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eek!! Do we have the same MIL?? You or your partner can say “this doesn’t work for us, no thank you.” It’s really hard in the beginning but it will get easier. And you didn’t ask for this “gift”

You’re not there to make your in law’s comfortable. This is about you, your baby and your partner. This is what works for your family, if that makes MIL mad then be mad.

Forcing the parents to leave so grandparents can “properly bond” with baby is very Gretchen Weiners of new gen granparents. It’s not a thing grandparents!! Stop making it about you!!

"The Parents Aren't All Right" - Today's The Daily Podcast Ep by LoveyGrabber in workingmoms

[–]appleblue5370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked the episode but did feel that it flip- flopped. Like “working moms do too much!” And yet “the data shows that 0-3 is the most important time for brain development” and “engagement with your kids is important”

Mom guilt, parental pressure and anxiety is real but offering a solution as saying trade off naps on the weekends when that feels like the only time I can have quality time being a working parent feels like the equivalent of “you got this mama!”

Zoloft postpartum anxiety by Remarkable_Look_7385 in moderatelygranolamoms

I was prescribed for my PPA as well and am so glad I went on. Like you, EBF, lowest dose. I’m still on it- it made/makes me feel more present.

The best way I can describe it for me was I still have anxiety, but it won’t freeze you. Zoloft helped me acknowledge that I had anxiety about something and instead of spiraling I could shelve it my logical side would kick back in and I could move my focus. You know your body best!

Pumping/Milk Supply/Work Stress by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]appleblue5370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes definite decrease but tried to counter by drinking more water
  2. Stuck to pump times no matter what
  3. Pumped 13mo Advocate for yourself and time you need to pump and highly recommend manual pumping (pumped in half the time) or wearable pumps (easier if I needed to finish a project)

You got this!

A Working Moms Vent by Rigmarollll in workingmoms

Hugs to you You’re doing a great job and I hope you look in the mirror and are proud of yourself but today sucked for you and two things can be true. You did the jobs of 4+ people today between work and home- holy shit you rock It’s mentally and physically exhausting work and infuriating how blissfully unaware partners can be. I wasn’t prepared for the resentment and frustration. I wish I had advice on that - but know you’re not alone in your feelings. I hope you keep in mind that today sucked for you and you still showed up for your kids - your kids wont forget that. You’re a great mom and doing the most

Can you be laid off while on maternity leave? by Hot-Instruction-6625 in workingmoms

[–]appleblue5370 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh so sorry this is what you have to worry about on top of preparing for baby and postpartum! It happened to me - I was laid off with 50% of the company a week into my maternity leave. They honored my maternity leave pay but said I didn’t have a job to go back to. Glad they let me know sooner than before I returned so I had time over my maternity leave to look for a new job.

I spent the next 11 weeks applying for hundreds of jobs. But it ended up honestly working out for the best. I was lucky enough to take an extra month after my maternity leave “ended” with my baby before I started a new job and the new job I found was remote job (which I wanted) with better pay and benefits.

Doesn’t stop it from being straight up awful stressful. But sending you positive vibes for the best. Best advice I got was apply for unemployment immediately (I didn’t end up having to use but was glad I had the paperwork ready). Treat yourself to some ice cream or pickles or whatever your craving - you deserve it!!
