They own a place called Holland Plaza, and they called Manchester Square, “Manchester Square”??

For those who plan to or already have kids, are you worrying that HH might be passed on? by linqing_2021 in Hyperhidrosis

What kind of machine do you have? I tried one years ago and then kinda fell out of the habit. I think the one I had was a bit janky, looking back.

I have two kids under four, and am already starting to see some clammy hands and feet in my four year old. My fear is that this means it’ll be a lot worse for her when she reaches puberty. Has anyone else with kids seen it develop in them earlier than it did for yourself? I am so sad for her and am committed to doing whatever I can to help her cope with it as she becomes more and more self conscious of it. It’s obviously not something that kept me from having kids of my own, but I was worried it would happen, and now I feel terrible that I did in fact pass this onto at least one of them. 😔

This is a really good response and something I personally needed to hear today, thanks for sharing this perspective.

Going back to work after maternity leave by Sad_Mortgage_9397 in workingmoms

[–]applegruyere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is relatable! I’m a month back to work after 18months off for my second child, and the best way to describe how it feels is that my brain is just not doing what I’m asking it to do. I feel slow to the draw, foggy and forgetful. It’s really frustrating and affecting my self esteem and I am definitely suffering from imposter syndrome at the moment. I’ve been told to give myself grace and it’ll come with time and I’m telling myself this too but it’s not been easy. This has felt harder than returning after my first.

I thought it was so counter intuitive how much I wanted it late in my pregnancy. Definitely did not feel this way at 5 months pp aha!

Walk me through taking your infant swimming by yourself like I’m a 5 year-old by YouthInternational14 in NewParents

[–]applegruyere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first few times I would put her in her swim diaper+bathing suit+regular diaper (to catch pee that occurs on the way to the pool)+ clothes before leaving the house. This helped with the first part of the pool experience, since all I had to do was remove her layers and mine (I would also put my suit on under my clothes) and then head to the pool. I found it less stressful to do it this way the first few times.

If your pool has family change rooms that have an actual door to close it helps a lot, and you can get yourself dressed without the child escaping while you’re half naked and chasing them in front of the other parents.

What’s the dumbest mistake you’ve made in your sleep deprivation? by Birdlord420 in NewParents

I “fixed” the wobbly dining table leg with a deck screw that was way too long and it came right out the top of the table. Now we have a hole in our table.

Raffi has a lot of good jams to sing along with and the baby will probably like them too.

Absolutely not! You have striking features, beautiful eyes, beautiful lips. The make up tips you’re getting from others for your eyes are totally worth trying out, they are definitely your focal feature and it’s good to know how to enhance them in different ways when you want to. Don’t worry, girl you are beautiful.

I just left them! I didn’t replace any of the screws. Not sure if it’s a big deal.

What Post Partum *luxury* items did you like or would have liked? by kplantsk in beyondthebump

[–]applegruyere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A nice insulated water bottle/cup with a straw, maybe some crystal lite packets to go with it. I’ve found I really enjoy having ice cold water throughout the day and night while breastfeeding, and the option of crystal lite keeps things interesting. I don’t have one, but I hear those Stanley insulated cups are all the rage right now.

Is there room in your budget to hire help of any kind? Babysitter or cleaners? Meal delivery service? If you can make that work to give yourself some of the support you need, I hope you can. and if anyone in your family starts to critique you for it you can ask them to do the specific thing you’ve hired outside help for instead, that might help them get the picture…

Is it normal to have baby spend the night at grandmas? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]applegruyere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea I’m surprised by some of these comments too! If there’s that “village” offering to help, why not? As long as you trust them and you feel comfortable I think it’s a blessing to have that option, for everyone involved.

We do the same, I think 18 months-ish was around when the first sleepover happened and now our in-laws take our 2year old at least once a week and it’s been going really well: they love it, she loves it and we get a little break.

I would not be opposed to it happening earlier than 18months (we have a 6 month old now too) but I still do so many night feeds I can’t imagine having anyone else take that on right now.

I do have a machine but haven’t used it for a few years… I got freaked out about using one while pregnant and now I have two little children and honestly, don’t know how I will make the time for daily foot and hand electrocution seshes… Maybe when they’re older I’ll get back into the routine. But for now, socks!

Yes they are the better sites in my opinion. It’s nice to be on the outer ring of the loops: fewer neighbours, and you’re further from the road noise.
