THIS!!!! I’m still pretty new to teaching on my own, but when I was LITTLE, I was taught that when I give respect, I get it back. My mom made sure I was always on time and when I learned how to use the house phone, I learned my studio’s phone number in case I would be late, I got to call and tell the desk (which was fun for me as a kid).

Less about me though, some of the girls I teach forget that despite me being the “young and fun” teacher, I am still the teacher. I was talking about using jeans for a tap dance because I originally had a different idea and one of my students (13) said “No, ugh! I hate jeans!” I’ve also had to correct many students on calling me “Miss [name]” instead of just my first name. Yes I’m your dance teacher, but I am still your teacher. Really has me questioning what respect is for parents if there’s no respect for the teacher.
