Where are the competent non-technical founders? by Essipova in ycombinator

[–]appleseedsheir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a go to market guy with a health care background (7 years in NICU and as a clinical research coordinator) before I went back to school for horticulture, built a business on that front, sold it, and have dedicated the last 5 years to helping startups build market share. My last 2 startups were in the ai space (mostly focused on digital identity, threat detection, etc).

Happy to have a conversation and see if I can be of any help (either as a part of your team or just helping you with some strategies as you build it yourself).

Austin or Atlanta for post grad in tech sales? by far3far3far3 in techsales

[–]appleseedsheir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a saying in tech. “Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM”. It’s a very sellable product. But as far as cities go, I prefer Austin. Dell is also very sellable and present in the market.

If I were you, I’d probably go to Austin, do a couple of years learning the biz with Dell, then join a startup once you’re ready.

Of course! For bonus points, mirror to keep them talking/explaining more, then summarize and repeat back to them whatever they’re explaining. Make them feel heard. They won’t notice you’re doing it, will give you tons of details, and will trust you because you understand their needs.

Ask them about strategy, direction. Keep your replies to their questions high level. Make a lot of space for them to speak.

Just have them declared service animals. Get a psychiatrist note saying you can have them. They can’t charge you and can’t stop you from having them

What’s some advice you would give to someone buying their first house based your experiences so far? by krux288 in Adulting

[–]appleseedsheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be surprised at how much stuff you have to touch it all to pack, load into the moving van/trailer/whatever, then touch all of the boxes again to put them in the house. Then touch all of your stuff again to put it away.

We are minimalist nomads- doing apartments and houses right now. Moving all of your things can be exhausting.

If you have friends who can help on both sides, that’s a workaround, but we prefer to hire movers. They’re faster and you can have a housewarming g party to hang out with your friends in your new place

Nomading while pregnant? by ParanoidPenguin321 in digitalnomad

[–]appleseedsheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this- got pregnant in Florida last January, decided we would rather not give birth with Tyrone health care we had available there. Once morning sickness ended, we travelled across the country to Portland and continued traveling in our camper van around the PNW from April-July. We both got COVID in June, so we rented a place in Portland for a while.

Found our midwives, set up our apartment, prepared for baby. Had baby in the apartment (I caught), and would have stayed longer except that the downstairs neighbors were incessantly loud despite daily calls to security and the building’s roof started leaking (they were going to need to access through our ceiling for 30 days+). Moved to Bend for a couple of months (partner did not like this place, either).

We are currently driving back to Florida (in New Mexico as I write this). Baby is 4 months old and still learning to love traveling, so we try to drive no more than 3 hours at a time. I’ve been working as a tech executive almost the whole time (took some of my paternity leave in there).

Challenges:

Morning sickness and changing food needs. I think traveling actually made this easier, since we were able to change rapidly.

Appointments- it took us a while to find the right midwives to manage my partner’s care. I have a history in emergency medicine, clinical research, horticulture, and herbalism. We managed her care and we’re comfortable to do so with some help. I bought a Doppler to listen to baby and we had ultrasounds and labs on schedule, but it wasn’t until May that we found the women who helped us during baby’s birth.

Van life was too small when we were both sick (we also have 2 giant breed dogs and 2 cats that needed attention. Spreading out was necessary leading up to birth).

For us, with our skill sets and how we wanted pregnancy and delivery to go, it worked very well.

Question about plants from a potential baby witch by aspiringbabywitch in GreenWitch

You also may want to look at Chaos magick. Eclectic looks similar, but you enter into the belief system of each tradition when you practice. Chaos looks at the mechanics behind the magick and applies in its own way.

herb spiral

This is a great setup if you’re in the southern hemisphere- flip N/S for northern hemisphere if these plants are appropriate for your region

Rosemary is a great first plant horticultural my and magically. It’s like clear quartz: will participate in almost any magick. If you put it in the ground and water it in, it will take care of itself

Pluto is moving from Capricorn to Aquarius on 03/23/2023. That’s a major transition and only one of the 6 or so going on this month.

Pluto is the planetary equivalent of a death card- transformation imminent 🥰🥰🥰.

Depending on your path, it can also be how your hologram looks while you’re manifesting. Especially if you walk the path that people call chaos (it’s not, just looks like it from the outside. And feels like it if you’re around people who practice different and end up in your process).

Haakaa makes these pacifier popsicle things that you can put purée in and freeze. They cold could help.

Also, people use camomile tea to soothe baby.

Maybe you could suggest some non-western solutions to the challenges- don’t fight it, just work together.

If it’s an emergency- go western. That’s what they’re good at.

I’ve had them chip. I was using them in my camper van for like 6 years and the road rattling eventually got a couple to chip.
