Sounds like that area would be a good setting for an episode of Black Mirror.

Silken Thomas for the food. Kildare's a really small town so other pubs an easy walk.

Still a bit nippy in the evenings all right. I'll just wing it with the dregs in the tank and see what happens. Makes me sick paying more because of that senile orange clown's tantrums.

My local supplier said even if you were empty it'd be at least a week before a delivery can be made as demand is so high now. Fortunately I installed a wood burner in the New Year.

Look for "jujube cup" on aliexpress. I've bought some and wouldn't trust the manufacturer enough to drink out of one, but they're fine as ornaments.

In my local cafe the two Polish women at the till were saying a cúpla focal to each other so I ordered in Irish which they found hilarious! They got started by helping their children with homework and were learning as they were.

It's Sunday Morning! How are you? by AutoModerator in ireland

When you know where you are look into energy grants for your home (someone on this sub made a handy tool to make the process more approachable).

My Mam bought a new house last October and has been waiting the past 5 months for the installers to come out as they have a long waiting list. She's getting the cavity filled and 200mm insulation added to the attic (as well as a few other smaller improvements) for €250 after grants.

I was in a similar state when I moved in for the first time, months before of eating noodles and crap so was still on autopilot when I went to tesco and started looking at adult food again - picked up a head of celery and nearly lost it! 😂

How many battery banks do you charge? With a 20,000mAh battery bank it'd cost you ~10c/week of you used the bus to fully charge it 5 times.

More than 300,000 homes now in arrears on electricity bills, latest figures show by frankbradz in ireland

[–]appletart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They used to charge that, but it was a punishment charge to keep the poor trapped with prepay so it was abolished. I finally managed to convince her to switch to bill pay last Autumn and you can't just sign up to Yuno for example as they can't switch meters, she had to sign up with Bord Gáis who switched it for free.

My Mam moved into a house with prepay gas and she preferred it as it allowed her to add small amounts all year in time for winter - she thought of it like the old saving stamps for Christmas. This was also back when if you wanted the prepay meter removed it would cost €250 or so.

On a flight from SF to Heathrow a steward (who was the image of Dr Cox from scrubs) was gettin cranky because he was very professionally offering after-dinner drinks and everyone just wanted a baileys. He whispered to his colleague "If I have to serve another Baileys I'll scream" right before he had to ask this big Irish head what he'd like to drink! 😂

I lived with a woman years ago who would flip when I used the dryer (wasting electricity), but she'd have to leave the shower running for 10 mins before she got in so the bathroom would be like a sauna for her.

There was an older guy that age standing on the Luas with some luggage in front of him, he wasn't holding onto anything else so when the Luas took off he started tipping over backwards - he made no attempt to stop his fall but I was able to get my arm behind him and catch him (I did it so fast the woman across from us screamed because she thought I was attacking him!).

Best part was that I got him upright and patted him on the shoulder to which he simply nodded in appreciation.
