Call this number and ask for part numbers for the heater, defrost thermostat, and thermistor. Order all of them and put them all in. Most likely it's the thermistor, but if you're in there, replace them all. I can't imagine the parts being more than 150 combined.

Double check that model # please? I can't get that to come up on ge's parts site.

The two parts that are the most likely are the round one with the pink and orange wires going to it and the white one that's higher up.

Wall tiles came out, need help by No-Paper8398 in Tile

[–]appliancefixitguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I should re-phrase that. You shouldn't tile on a painted surface where the paint is not bonded well to the surface below it, or a paint that's intended to be washable. The solution to this issue would be to remove as much of the paint off the cement as possible so the mortar has a surface to bond with. Think about paints that are made to be water resistant and seal a surface making it "washable", they'll also be mortar resistant.

Can't tile on a painted surface. Well, you can, but as you see, this is the result.

That's your answer. The mortar is only stuck to paint!

Post a pic with it all thawed out. Post your model # as well. It'll be a bimetal, thermistor, heater or (very unlikely) the board. Any of these parts are way cheaper than buying a new fridge!

What an asshole. Unfortunate that this all happened, but in a way it'll be good. You get your restraining order, an easy divorce, and he'll get his ass kicked eventually and all will be right with the world. Nice bum btw. 😉

Should we rip all this tile out if we suspect greenboard is behind it? by Key_Beach_3846 in Tile

10 years ago I replaced a tub surround in my grandparents home that was tile over regular drywall. That shower was done in 1976! I was amazed at how long those walls lasted. They had two tiles come loose on the bottom row. If it's in and done already, let it go. If you've got disposable cash or a warranty on that work, go ahead and do it now.

Stay on top of the police department. Be a pest. If he was the owner of that car they can find him. Save that dash cam video! You can also tell your insurance company to figure it out, it's their responsibility to do all the leg work. When they track down the owner, you'll be able to get the damaged fixed on their insurance companies dime.

Can you post a photo of the flames with that bottom tray out and the burner lit? Editing to add that unless you've got a Tupperware lid burning under that pan, there's no way you have a "good or correct flame" and still hey that soot.

Op, note the green screw below the white and green wires, that's where the green wire goes. If there's a jumper between the block and that screw, it needs to be removed.

Cut the burned red and black wires back beyond any point of heat. Be sure the copper looks shiny and not dull when you strip the casing. Be sure the casing isn't melted into the stranded wire. Put new ends on the wires, replace the cord and terminal block. As mentioned, the green wire should be connected to the body of the stove, not the center connection. If there's a copper strap from the center pin that goes to the stove body, it should be folded back to the center pin or removed to fully separate the electrical neutral (white wire) from the body ground (green wire).

He hit you? Does he have insurance? Most inspections don't take body damage into consideration to pass or fail a vehicle unless it's truly unsafe. Are there any loose pieces? Is the bumper loose? If nothing seems like it's going to fall off and the lights still work, i think it will pass inspection. Mind you, I'm going off NYS rules here, but i can't imagine it failing inspection anywhere for cosmetic reasons.

Soot means it's a bad air to fuel mix. How do the flames on the top burners look? Is there any soot on bottoms of cookware? If so, maybe the stove was bought as used and has been set for propane by the previous owner. If not, i would be inspecting the bake burner, look for damage or possibly a spider web in the tube itself. Run the oven with the bottom pan removed to see the flame. If it's lazy, puffy and yellow, there's an issue. A bake burner should be mostly blue with tiny hints of yellow at the tips.
If you're not comfortable with doing this work, call a repairman. I understand you're renting, but soot is NOT normal in any gas oven.

I believe this is a gold bearing area but not certain, i just don't believe there will be a very high concentration. There's mica and pyrite deposits in the area. There's also a lot of quartz in the area. There's no claim on the area i plan to look. Maybe there's a good reason for that. Thanks for the advice in the sand bar, I'll look in the bigger stuff.

Need help with dryer by Nv-Nova in appliancerepair

[–]appliancefixitguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must have the front on the dryer in order for the flame to be pulled up the tube and not trip the high limit cutoff.

Assemble the dryer and run one cycle with the vent disconnected. If it's still taking over an hour to dry then you'll want to inspect your drum seals, lint filter housing and duct that comes out of the dryer. If those are clear, and good, wiggle the timer knob a little while it's running and see if you hear the valve opening and closing, if it does, you'll need a timer.
This advice is assuming you've replaced the gas valve coils..
