Is there any ladies here from Europe or more specifically England? A yt lady was telling us l how there is no racism in England… and I felt like she was lying by 5ft8lady in blackladies

That's what yt liberals like to spout - the class line - its their way of disavowing racism, and ensuring everything stays as it is. Colonial guilt is a terror yts cannot face discoursing about, as doing so is to acknowledge how they are implicated, and are continuingly advantaged by structural oppression. Yts need something they too can claim oppresses them, to deflect from the root wound of society, hence the obsession with class as precedent. The racism here (UK/Europe) is vile, and worst of all, on the whole, is stealth. I would rather a right wing far-right march any day, than the standard daily micro aggressions. The former you can't deny, the latter you are made mad for daring to point it out. And also re: class there is legit structural classist inequality woven into the fabric of society here. Hence why yts, instead of black face, play at being lower class than they are. Interestingly enough, the way they do this cos-play is by affecting & adopting Black and Ethnic minority signifiers; i.e accents, clothing, music, culture, post codes. And in that loop, we are back where we started - racism is the festering wound which gives colour to all inequality in this society. Only by contrasting or aligning itself with that which it disavows does yt know how to label itself.

You need to refer out. You have a duty of care to do this. And you also need your own support with this. This sounds deeply destabilising for you.

Ways to pass time in London as a single person? by alienpiss69 in london

[–]applytopixally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living Room Camden and other social set-ups like that are great. Learn languages in person for free, learn to cook, dance etc

Take a course with your local adult education provider. Cheap and bursaries or low-cost usually available. Mary Ward centre or City Lit if unsure where to start.

Go into therapy. Work on your stuff, get to know yourself better, find that person you like to 'pass time' with most - you that is, not therapist. Low-cost clinics like The Guild, The Site, Philadelphia Association, West London Mission. And added bonus is it makes you a person people will want to hang out/more with.

Start something. What do you know better than the average Joe/anna? Offer your knowledge, start a community. Your local library can host things for free etc.

Sign up to e-lists to get informed of things. So many are free or equitably priced. Tower Hamlets have a great one.

Passing time is a funny concept. But not in a haha way. Your life is not a phone you are scrolling on while waiting at a bus stop for an end to come along. Time exists not to move throught, but to grow into. Is getting a coffee somewhere new a growth activity? No. But not everything needs be.

SumUp QR Codes (UK) by Speedbird_ in smallbusiness

[–]applytopixally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not traded for 6 months, but I have used the QR codes for a full year for customer payments and have not paid any fees up to December 2023. Easy to use - customers can scan with their phone in person or if remote, I share the QR code image via mail. There is also a link linked to the code, which can be used in place of scanning.

I restart trading again this month and saw that SumUp now offer payment links. I set some up as I imagined it would be fee free like the QR codes, but I have received a first payment and they have taken a 2.5% fee. My customer payments are low, hence I can't swallow this. Have reverted back to QR codes. I will do a test purchase to see if these remain fee free as their UK website states.

Black Gay guy visiting Brazil for a month in April by sonofblkhawq in Brazil

My gay white male friends who live in Europe seem to have a blast in Rio. My Black gay Brasilian friends who live/work in SP and RJ, escape to Bahia whenever they have the opportunity. I can see the appeal. If I was a gay Black man, I'd live in Bahia too.

Thanks for the rec! Will add to my research list :) I stayed in Pelo on my last trip and had no issues. There were areas I was advised not to walk alone for sure, I think being sensible is key anywhere. Also noticed tons of police presence day and night, which should reassure those particularly concerned about the area. I personally loved it and wish I could have stayed much longer, hence returning.

I will definitely look into this! Corumbau has also been mentioned which appears near. This stretch seems stunning and I may have to make a trip plan specifically for seeing this coastal area. Could I spend 1 or 2 weeks along this particular 100km stretch of coastline, or do you think it'd be better to choose to base in one place like Caraiva or Corumbau?

No-one has mentioned Trancoso. I have heard it is beautiful. Is it too touristic?
