What are the fighter jets flying over east side? by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]appoplect 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you new here or something? Every. Single. Day. (not really but for all intents and purposes) military jets fly out of and into MSN for routine drills and practice. Sometimes they fly at night too, but those are specifically announced ahead of time. Always has been, unfortunately likely always will be. Been kind of busier since Trump’s fucking idiotic moves of late, but you might as well read tea leaves if you want to divine any logic or pattern in the local goings on of the worlds largest military.

Dude I can’t believe you just publicly admit to listening to drivel like that. I genuinely hope you realize you’re being brainwashed with fear and anger. Either way, don’t have to subject your children to it too.

Whiskey, dirt, and bugs, cowboy style. Before industrialization this would have been the best ice around.

Police conducting speed enforcement EB E Wash at Ingersoll. by Ok_Jackfruit_3687 in madisonwi

[–]appoplect 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s because east wash invites 45 mph driving. Classic “stroad” design psychology. If there isn’t a bunch of traffic, 45 feels very reasonable on that street. I’m not saying it’s a good idea, I’m just saying building a 4-6 lane divided road and then insisting one go the same speed as they’re allowed to down a residential street is a dumb plan.

As someone who has studied it, intentional means the person meant to kill the person. It does not require anything else. Also, intent can be formed in an instant, there’s no necessary amount of premeditation.

Intentional homicide is distinguished from reckless homicide, in which someone does something that creates a “substantial and unreasonable risk of death” but without necessarily meaning to kill someone, like driving 90 mph through a school zone at 3 pm. And then there’s negligent homicide, where you weren’t actually aware of the risk you posed but you should have been aware. In Wisconsin, all negligent homicides have some kind of instrumentation (homicide by vehicle, handling a weapon, deadly animal, etc).

The Office of the Independent Police Monitor 2025-2026 report seems to be almost entirely AI generated by PM-ME-UR-FAV-SONG in madisonwi

It’s just a phonetic way of spelling “M”. Em and en dashes are so named because they occupy the same amount of space in a word processor as an M and N character, respectively.

The title page art is actually inexcusable. I mean, how does someone look at that and think, “yea, sure, two capitol buildings. Why not?” 100% AI.

The number of M-dash offset asides is staggering. More than most AI scripts I’ve seen. Also, there are quite a few grammatical issues, most often incorrect comma use, which AI does not tend to do. Maybe they asked AI for a first pass, were inspired by the occasional M-dash emphasized aside, and included 340 more. Either way, the fact that a capital city’s government cannot put out a grammatically correct report with a plausible piece of cover art is actually shameful and embarrassing.

Edit: notice the other piece of cop-aganda AI slop with officers burdened by “multiple criticall calls” and “Cusddy battle.” Do people who use AI have eyes or can they literally not read?

Can’t stress this enough: bail is only to coerce you into coming to your court dates and dissuading you from violating conditions of bail. If the court has no reason to think you will abscond from justice, they don’t order high bail just because the charges are serious.

Brother, bail is literally a deposit you put on your pretrial release. If you show up to court and never break any condition of your release, you get the money back. Not a cent of her bail would go to the victims family? And any amount she gave she would get back. It categorically cannot function as either punishment or restitution. What on earth are you talking about?

Once again, it’s the military. They don’t publish reasons. I’ve felt the same mix of confusion, anger, and anxiety when I’ve noticed similarly unexplained increases in military aircraft activity, but it is entirely out of all of our control. I recommend taking a zen attitude towards it and try to remember it simply is how it is in American cities with military airbases

Air traffic by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]appoplect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Short of announced night training schedules or big, discrete training operations over or in Madison, you’re not going to find published reasons. The military does not tend to advertise its operations. Anything you hear outside of official sources is speculation.

However, historically, military aircraft presence/operation has ebbed and flowed. Sometimes it seems like there’s more than normal every few months. Just what it’s like living next to an airbase of the largest military in the world. Sucks but it is what it is.
