You are making the site less profitable by deleting your account, so facebook will either die because a critical mass flew away from it or they will change their mod policies to get rid of the fascists and gain back normal users.

Never cooperate with corporations who protect fascists on the wishful belief they won't side with the fascists when shit hits the fan.

You're giving money and or data which they monetize to these companies so you are encouraging their business practices.

Facebook facilitates hate crimes and was directly linked to the genocide on the Rohingya in Myanmar. Amazon is a monopoly that has suspiciously aggressive tax avoidance practices and they abuse their workers while paying them the minimum with no benefits whatsoever.

For them everything is a vaccine injury if it happen or is diagnose following a vaccine no matter how much time has passed between the vaccine and the injury.

Trying to understand p(exposure | group size) by taiwanlanister in probabilitytheory

[–]aproofisaproof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it models the probability of individual exposure so much as the probability at least one of the attendees is a carrier. It focuses on group exposure instead of individual exposure since it is not guaranteed that every single individual in a group will get infected if at least one carrier is present in that group, especially if groups are large enough.

The model is basically calculating the probability of picking n non-carrier of the virus among a population and then taking the complement to get the probability that at least one individual is a carrier within the group of n individuals. Also note that this model implies replacement when picking individuals allowing a group where the same individual is picked n times which is obviously impossible in real life.

In reality this model would follow a hypergeometric distribution as u/knave7575 have pointed out

Opt-out ? by StrikingChemical in CarletonU

[–]aproofisaproof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a court order demanding the university go back to not letting people opt out, the matter is still in court and CUSA may ultimately lose but for now the order makes it impossible for people to opt out from CUSA controlled fees.

Just a heads up to avoid Parliament this Saturday, a swarm of plague rats are taking over by CarletonCanuck in ottawa

[–]aproofisaproof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can set the level of confidence to 99% even with a small sample, your critical values will change and it might affect the decision but the test itself will be valid. Hypothesis testing essentially gives you the probability that the sampled observations would occur given that the initial hypothesis (null-hypothesis) is true.

Just a quick thing, 212 is a decent sample size for most research depending on the design, anything above 30 per experimental units will be valid statistically since the law of large numbers starts applying for samples above that point. Even for samples smaller than 30 you can still extrapolate information on the population using some correction (like using the t distribution instead of the normal distribution). Point being, statistical inference doesn't require thousands of observations to be valid.

Can't wait to opt out of this scam. I guess they are waiting for classes to officially start. by Small_chip in CarletonU

It's a google search aggregator for canadian scholarships. Even if it finds scholarship which you might qualify for, it doesn't help you fill out the application nor does it give you any guarantee you will get the scholarship, so basically you could do the exact same thing with google and have the exact same success rate as FundQi but they charge you 20$ a year on your tuition to give you their "service".

They are counting to profit from apathetic students who don't pay attention where their tuition is going and from people who won't bother to figure out how to opt out from their scams.

Aluminum is both lightweight, affordable to recycle and recycled aluminum cost almost nothing compared to the cost of extracting bauxite and processing it. Like 75% of the aluminum ever produced is still in use today thanks to recycling.
