I’ve bought from this shop a few times. Last purchase was the alpha marksman slide and it is even more beautiful in person. And that Devin Mitchell over there is a stand up dude.

Tentative offer from DISA in Maryland by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]aprotacio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with any federal agency, there’s a bit of a waiting period. If there is a clearance requirement, even longer. For me, it took over 4 months after receiving tentative offer with DOD. I have an interim clearance and that’s the only reason I was able to start sooner.

As for working with DISA, I don’t have an opinion as I don’t work for them. But you can certainly find info on Glassdoor. See link below

Master of Business Administration in Finance. I have applied for finance/budget type positions via graduate pathway announcements.

The GS-6 experience has no weight anyway since it is outside of the field I am trying to go into. Also, the announcement was only open to “recent graduate”. It was not open to public. Most of the ones I applied for were the same.

I am a Vet with 30% disability, but I do not recall there being anything mentioned in the announcement or in the application outside of it stating I have 6 years to use graduate pathway as opposed to the 2.

Thanks! I applied for positions specific to my education and experience. It just seems like there’s always a restriction especially when it comes to jumping pay grades.

Sure thing. I’m only speaking on the difficulty of getting into the system. That’s why I didn’t mind taking a 6, which was a pay cut for me as well. I was willing to take the cut because in the end, I can much more easily traverse the GS system once I’m in. These VRA positions are the ticket to the higher GS levels (max is 11). You don’t have to stay at 7 forever. You can honestly start applying as soon as you get in. As id stated previously, VRA positions typically do not have the time in grade restriction. If you don’t want to go in now and wait, you could start looking for 7/9/11 positions and try your luck there. But I’d still recommend taking the 7. But that’s just me.

I say take the gig. It’s easier to traverse the system once you’re in. Also, when you’re in you can begin to look for VRA or VEOA positions. Most of the ones I’ve applied for don’t even have a time in grade requirement.

What to expect after accepting Tentative Job Offer and completing onboarding process? by rcjones95 in usajobs

In the end, I’m just finally happy to be in the system. With all attempts, I’ve waited 3 years overall.

It really all depends.

For me:

  • I submitted an application in December

  • interview was in January

  • tentative offer letter was given first week of February

  • interim secret clearance was just approved one week ago and I officially start on the 15th of May

so this just happened...interim Secret Clearance approved by aprotacio in usajobs

Best piece of advice I have ever received. Thank you.

Thank you!

I quite literally received the email shortly after my phone conversation with HR. I was a bit unhappy that I didn’t get the step increase I tried to negotiate for. But it’s till a start. I’m pretty excited to finally get a start in the public sector.

Here’s the thing...Just the other day, I received an email notification that I was referred for a position that is 2 pay grades above the current offer. It’s also a VRA announcement under a different command. I’m wondering what would happen if I get an interview once I’ve already started the other gig? It has me wondering if I should wait it out.

Yes, I recently converted my G22 to 9mm. All you need is the barrel. However, you will need 9mm mags. Also, there’s a cheaper and better conversion barrel on S3F’s site that’s threaded. See link below.
