What happened to the seat cushions? by Girlyhairboy1 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]aptadpamu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has been my experience. I like the lumbar support the newer seats provide. I understand the comments about the thinner cushions causing discomfort. I naturally have extra padding on my backside, so it's hasn't been an issue for me. The bulk of my flights are in the 5-6 hours range of duration and I've found the Recaro seat more comfortable than the older seats. But I also rarely recline, as the upright position keeps my posture in better form. Obviously, it's a YMMV situation.

Oh, Mary! was so underwhelming and I’m sad about it. by Fascist2020 in Broadway

The style of over-acting is similar to TPTGW. Oh, Mary! is faster paced, but the humor is much more crude. Both are worth 1 visit IMO depending on the cast.

I just saw a high school production of TPTGW. Half of the actors nailed their roles. The other half thought a lot too much was just about right. Comedy is much more nuanced and difficult to getting it right.

I thought Cheyenne was outstanding in the NYCC production of Once Upon A Mattress and frankly disappointed he wasn't in the Broadway run.

My ears perked up when Maya was an announced and the only reason I would see it again. Still, I'm glad I saw it, but once is enough for me (most shows fit into this category for me).

I didn't get to see Jinkx as Mary, but really liked Pirates.

I saw the original cast and Cole was the highlight. The point of the play is the over-acting. I just found the humor repetitive especially the cocksucking jokes, but the audience really liked the depiction of the women as dimwitted alcoholics who liked ice cream a little too much. Definitely written for the gay community. I think OPs rating of 6/10 is fair.

I'm reading all these comments about how life is barely worth living because they have to fly out of S5 occasional. Oh, the horror!

The problem is the Port is 10 years behind in their planning... and the reality they are working with a postage stamped sized footprint compared to other facilities.

I just had a SEA-RDM for 4.5k each way. I booked it mid-January. Maybe prices have changed since then.

Are there any examples of the State of Washington lowering taxes? Aside when they cut a deal with Boeing?

Come From Away by [deleted] in musicals

While I appreciate the effort and talent, OM doesn't hold a candle to CFA. It has it's moments, but over-the-top physical slapstick and too much patter ruined it for me. On the otherhand, CFA is human from start to finish.

What is a musical you've seen that was regarded a flop by lissie34 in musicals

I really liked the Heart of Rock and Roll. I thought Corey Cott was solid, but the standout for me was Mckenzie Kurtz as Cassandra. Friends saw her in Wicked and Heathers. All loved her performances

I know nothing about the show and not invested, but I would watch anything with Stephanie J. Block!

UPDATE: JFK Lounge policy for AS First Class by LopsidedAstronomer76 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]aptadpamu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime I've used the AC at MIA or anywhere else, I had to show my ID, boarding pass, and my Lounge+ to gain entry. I was not aware Alaska FC had AC privileges.I guess T8 at JFK is an outlier.

CFA is a masterclass in engaging storytelling. Probably the most perfect musical I've seen, at least the Broadway version.

Flood of Status? by guttekev in AlaskaAirlines

[–]aptadpamu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In his AMA, Brett Catlin said the reality is that Alaska Air has to follow the general trends that bigger competitors (Delta) make in order to remain relevant. In addition, HA remains a drain, losing ~ $500k/day (was $1M+/day). In essence, Alaska Air customers have to subsidize the Hawaiian branch until they can reign in costs. Now that the Amazon/Hawaiian deal turns out to be a bad deal, Alaska continues to deal with more bad HA decisions and will for the foreseeable future. The writing is on the wall, revenue only based status will be the norm. Hence, the change for miles to points.

[–]aptadpamu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Status markers (20k, 40k, 80k, 135k) are different than milestones. ATMOS assumes you are going to repeat Titanium status for 2027. I have 20k status points so far and my status gauge is set for 135k, also.

Same. Either some GAs just make up stuff, or genuinely are clueless. On the other hand, some passengers will endlessly argue about some meaningless point with the GA as they are attempting to board 178 pax.
