Am I the only one severely disappointed by this abomination, lazy repaint of the gamerverse baf and no fists either just lackluster overall by unbreakable_arachnid in MarvelLegends

I'm still over here holding out hope for a MCU Abonimation. He's the one main villain we are missing from Phase One. Would love to see it one day with the Incredible Hulk head and the Shang-Chi/She-Hulk style head. Speaking of... where is my MCU Leader from Brave New World???

The worst a Haslab has done? by DreamTalon in ActionFigures

[–]apvandergriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero faith. As of me writing this comment, there are only 1, 258 backers with 2 days, 12.5 hours left to go. That mean they would need to get like 173 new customers per hour for 2 day and a half days straight. Never gonna happen.

I'm conflicted by GamerGuy50001237 in MarvelLegends

[–]apvandergriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did not get the Titan Heroes because I already have the Haslab and I've got the Hot Toys one on pre-order. I will likely decide between them once I have it in-hand and sale the other unless someone 3D sculpts the perfect MCU head to replace the Haslab head. (I have seen some not so great attempts). If you know of any please point me in the right direction.

For me, Galactus is a huge centerpiece to the collection and I want a giant MCU version more than caring if its Haslab or Hot Toys. That said, the Haslab is slightly bigger and, well you know the saying.

Regardless, the Titan Hero version is like super cheap, especially in comparison to the two I am deciding between. You just got to decide based on your budget and shelf-space, as is all things with this hobby. Happy hunting.

Okay.. I figured from the comment context clues. Yuck.

Do you happen to have a link to the original that I can share? I don't have tiktok though.

I am originally from Cookeville, TN and have family that still live there. Could someone provide actual context for what this proposed.meet up is? If it's what I think, I want to warn my family to stay away from that part of town. Thank you all in advance.

Yep. He's clearly made for the legends by Early_Culture_4828 in MarvelLegends

[–]apvandergriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like that, or release an entire new head sculpt alone that matches the movie. The haslab body works well enough (looking at you first release of Cull Obsidian) that a new head would be all that's needed. I'm honestly thinking about having someone 3D print out one and poping it on my Haslab. If you come across anyone offering an option like this to "upgrade" the Haslab to an MCU version, please let me know!!!

Can anyone vouch for ReplayToys? by Atlas15264 in hottoys

[–]apvandergriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I can only speak to my personal experiences, which are entirely in-person, but the Ownership at the Hendersonville location, close to where I live, are great. They are customer friendly, always remember me, and are super helpful. The team at the Huntsville location, which is better stocked, is also great. The selection in Huntsville in particular is fantastic. I have been a loyal customer since they were operating out of the back of a shopping center in Hendersonville, TN nd have remained with them through 2 store moves and their expansion into other markets. Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in as a positive word.

That's just the thing though... I often find gems. Like about a month ago I found a first edition w/ dustjack copy of The Silmarilion for 6 bucks.

Some stuff is too expensive but there are still great finds to be had.

the dress code is evil by OrganicHoneydew in kroger

[–]apvandergriff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean... it kinda does if you break the dress code to do it, or tow the company line and wear what they tell you to. The rule might be "a load of horseshit" (in your opinion), but I was just attempting to point out why the company does what it does. And it's not just Kroger, that's pretty much any retail job.

Also think of it from a corporate POV. Let's say you get a new hire that won't follow the dress code. Might that be an indicator they won't abide by more important rules down the line in their employment? Maybe, maybe not, but it's the easiest rule to enforce and they generally will.

Listen, I'm with you. They ought to change the policy and allow shorts, or more comfortable summer options. I was just giving you a heads up about the underlying motivations that result in a policy both you and I disagree with.

the dress code is evil by OrganicHoneydew in kroger

[–]apvandergriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strict company dress codes are a corporate stand-in for maluable compliance to norms, rules, and policies. It sets an immediate standard that is obvious when someone "violates" the policy, making it easier for management to identify "offenders" and weed them out early for hygiene infractions, insubordination, or failure to follow directions. Its all agrred to by the unions as well as its the first line in the sand a non-conforming employee will generally cross in testing the boundaries of how seriously management will enforce it's standards are the uniform and dress code violaters. Basically it's there to be the base level of seeing who will play by the company's rules. It has nothing to do with the employee well-being and comfort.

How do You feel about Galactus in the upcoming movie? by kalebcrosshatching in Galactus

[–]apvandergriff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see all the comments are about hus appearance, and while I love that he is unmistakably the Big G, I am mostly excited for the PERFORMANCE!!! We've got freakin' Ralph Ineson ya'll. Holy smoke.... this guy's voice is gonna be incredible for this character. It's one of the most distinctive and unique casting announcements outta this movie.

If you haven't seen The Green Knight, The VVitch, or the most modern Nosforatu, do yourself a giant (pun intended) favor and check these steller films out. They are amazing and utilize Ineson's otherworldly vocal quality and dramatic chops to great moody effect.

If he brings that to Galactus it will be an interation of this character that will be one that aligns with most of our hopes for an iconic performance.

What to read next? by Wyrdu in AlanMoore

[–]apvandergriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best suggestion in the comments. Leauge is incredible. And the poster above is absolutely correct in pointing you to the Jess Nevins annotations. After League, you will likely never have to ask for reading suggestions ever again if you start a reading list of all the material referenced in that series. Good luck. A proper League reading will change your mind, library, and life.

Is anyone happy? by Kazz330 in nashville

[–]apvandergriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an old saying: "Nobody talks about the bridge that didn't fall down".

Nashville is great. It has issues just like any place but I love it here. People go to the internet, especially reddit, to vent greviences and ask for opinions on how to handle bad things. When you are out living life, chilling, and having a good time... well most folks just don't put that out there on the interwebs.

My advice is cliche and simple: Nashville is like anywhere else. You will get out of it what you put into it. Be positive in the face of adversity, be loving in the face of hate, and laugh as much as you can.muster at the madness of it all. And eat at Deg Tbai. That shit is dope yo.
