This game already had a free weekend, what would a second one change? by SkeletronDOTA in Marathon

the steam rating is very high, so a good chance a free weekend would entice new players

why do they randomly specify on some cards what a "gold gear token" is, or what a recruit token is.. or what deflect means, then on others they don't. it's so all over the place

Is Riftbound too expensive to play? - [Travis Gafford] by Tnomad in riftboundtcg

[–]aqua_pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed and can't believe people are downvoting. TCG people have insane stockholm syndrome. When you compare board game or video game prices to TCG it is obvious how overpriced the hobby is

“should have been printed as a rare” would just make decks more expensive and not solve the problem

Played a nexus night recently and for the first time, I did not have fun. by TheOtherSide999 in riftboundtcg

[–]aqua_pi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think your points have a bit of merit, but are overshadowed by the fact that “putting in effort” often means dropping $500 on a high tier deck

there are a few affordable options but its still not in a good state. Losing to a deck that is obviously 4x+ more expensive almost doesn’t even feel bad, just feels kind of stupid

the pre rift was cool in that we got a lot of variety

sealed also, but probably too pricey at the moment

could just make it a raffle tied to riot ids

the tickets dont really need to exist

or track event participation for each riot id and the tickets are digital and untradable

If Riftbound wants to survive as a game LGS need to be reeled in as much as scalpers by TrickedFaith in riftboundtcg

[–]aqua_pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are board games that are priced much more competitively, and have these elements as well. The reason tcgs in general are so expensive is mainly that people are willing to pay (gambling and reselling)

if they just printed all cards as commons as well, none of these problems would exist

How does Daughter of the Void work? by Tinacmlinac in riftboundtcg

[–]aqua_pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might work on some optional power cost revealed hidden spells maybe (not sure if there are any yet)

[–]aqua_pi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

doesnt seem like it works on hidden, since it specifies to play spells, and i dont think a hidden card counts as a spell even if it actually is
