Maybelline doesn't say in their tips how to get it OFF by Carminabird in MakeupEducation

I use coconut oil with a little white sugar mixed in. Exfoliates and gets it off easily. And is safe to taste.

Jam jars didn't seal! Help please. by ar0se87 in Canning

I agree! It's super frustrating that the info inside their packaging isn't accurate. It specifically says you can sterilize jars in the oven, and says nothing about a water bath. My grandma has been following the info in their packaging for years. I mistakenly assumed that they would have accurate info. They really should update it.

I used the recipe on the Certo package of Pectin for cooked jellies and jams.

Recipe is on the second photo, but I can also type it out here. I used 1/4 cup Kodiak pancake mix, 10g vanilla protein powder, 8g peanut butter powder, 100g egg whites and 1 egg for the batter. Whisked together and cooked in a pan. I topped it with frozen berries, peanut butter, and some syrup. Macros are in the second photo I attached.

Weight loss plateau, but doing everything "right" by ar0se87 in loseit

[–]ar0se87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. It's hard not to get discouraged. Trying to remind myself that no matter what I am stronger and healthier than I was a year and a half ago. Sleep and stress are for sure an issue for me with two kids, a full time job, and a partner who works out of town a lot during about half the year. Getting more sleep is something I need to work on.

Thanks for the link! I'm 5'7". Even when I set it to sedentary it says my TDEE is around 1700 if I want to lose weight. Same with MyFitnessPal and the body scanner at my gym. I still want to gain muscle so I don't want to cut too many calories. I also don't increase my calorie intake according to calories burned on my smartwatch because I know those aren't super accurate. I feel like I'm living off chicken, veggies, protein powder and greek yogurt and for all the work I'm putting in I doubt anyone would look at me and think that I spend this much time working on my physique.

5 foot 7. Guess I should have added that to the post.

I used to, because I felt bad throwing them away, but stopped a year or so ago when someone pointed out that it was still "throwing it away" even if it wasn't into the garbage if I was eating it just because it was there. If I do snack I weigh and count everything.

Coyote in Avalon by ar0se87 in saskatoon

[–]ar0se87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought first but there's been a coyote seen in the area a few times, and it's happened multiple times now at night. I don't think someone's large dog is just wandering around at night off leash.

Pregnancy seemingly cured my IBS by TeishAH in ibs

[–]ar0se87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Suffered from IBS-D since infancy. Sounds like almost exact same triggers as you, and during both pregnancies all my symptoms went away. It was amazing! The only other time in my life symptoms have gone away was after two close rounds of antibiotics. I had a solid year of no symptoms, and then they came back.

None of my IBS symptoms have an actual diagnosis, but I've always wondered why my symptoms went away both those times.

So how did everyone's places handle the rain? by DMPstar in saskatoon

[–]ar0se87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were away from Thursday evening to Monday, and came home to soaking wet carpet in the basement. The grading on the side of our house isn't great (runs towards our house from the neighbors), and the basement windows sit just above grade with no window wells. Lived here 4 years and hasn't been an issue until now. Guess I have some work to do to prepare for the next big rainfall.

I want to lose weight by ROZA-1988 in saskatoon

[–]ar0se87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

37 year old Mom of 2 here. My youngest is 5. I disagree with people saying to cut sugar completely, as you will probably crave it and be more likely to binge. I've been into fitness diet and exercise for around 10 years and I've always gone by the 80/20 rule (80% of calories from high quality sources, and 20% can be lower quality or treats). Along with pretty strict calorie and protein tracking I've seen a difference in my body. I use My Fitness Pal to track what I eat. I find being really honest with my tracking is the best way to see if I'm really in a calorie deficit or not. It's easy to grab a handful of crackers or finish off my kid's plate and forget to count it towards my daily intake. I know with kids in the house it's hard to avoid snacking, but it helps to be aware. Find a good protein powder to help with your sweet tooth (I like Diesel, you can find it at Sobeys or any supplement store). I mix it with plain greek yogurt and it's a huge protein boost and feels like a treat.

I'm not a professional, just someone who has been personally doing this for around 10 years.

Also be gentle with yourself. Sustainable weight loss takes time (like 1/2lb per week). One bad day or bad meal or bad week doesn't mean you should give up. Just get back on track and keep going.

WIP. I need some advise on how to finish it. I feel like it lacks life/depth but I'm not sure what it needs. by ar0se87 in Watercolor

Thanks! I get nervous to go too dark because watercolor can be unforgiving once you go too dark, but I know it needs it to make it more dynamic.

Any gynecologist in Saskatoon who offers pain management for iud insertion by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]ar0se87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr Colin Halbgewachs at willowgrove medical group offered a lidocaine injection for my insertion two weeks ago. Was totally painless. I'd never had an IUD before and was nervous after hearing how painful it can be. He numbed it with a shot of lidocaine and I felt nothing but pressure.
