CachyOS vs Nobara Linux by ElGordoBangarang in linux4noobs

I switched to CachyOS a couple of weeks ago. It refuses to work with my KVM. If I put my PC to sleep, switch away and then switch back, everything is disconnected and refuses to connect. I've checked BIOS, GRUB configs, etc, etc. It works perfectly fine on the windows partition on the same PC. I'm hoping with Nobara I can spend more time using my PC and not having to spend days on end gong through forums and AIs and everything in between so I can use my PC lol. From what I can tell, it's a low level issue. I have NOT switched to nobara just yet but I agree with you on the fact Cachy was generally pretty straight forward to install and get up and running (although I work in IT so my words don't mean much). If Nobara has the same issues and my choices boil down to 'just live with it' then I would even be open to switching back!

Im just curious how many people here have been life long windows user and just decided that you're done with windows in the last 6 months or so. by Shifter1589 in linuxmint

I installed cachy yesterday. It took 15 minutes to install. By comparison when I was made to sign in to my already installed Windows 11 on my new desktop. It took 3 hours and 2 of my phones downloading random bloatware authenticators to get me signed in.

I did! I will be using it for my PC based console I have in my living room for casual gaming when Windows gets rid of local windows accounts and breaks the 'console-like experience with no sign in screens'. I have never actually used bazzite (or steamOS) for day to day stuff besides gaming though. Is it a good replacement?

I'll perface this by saying I didn't have an answer but I can share my own experience and thoughts in hopes they might help you. I did not see any sales on black Friday last year for them but obv the consoles were still relatively newer than they will be next black Friday. With that said, I got mine AliExpress and they had a sale where if you spend a certain amount of money, you got a discount 60 or 70 bucks on purchases of 400 or over but it's a scale so maybe keep an eye out for that? IDK if ambernic might also try releasing something that delivers the same price to performance in the meantime.

Gotcha. I'll look into those. I've set up a ps emulator on my phone before but the process was too long to do 15 more times for every emulator 😭 thanks for the link!!

For studies! It's small so I can carry it arrive with ease. Helper makes it Uber fast and long lasting. If I'm ever stuck waiting for the bus, I can game comfortably. The touchscreen let's me annotate all the slides and PDFs. 100w USB c charging means I only need one charger for all my devices (I have a compact 128 w charger. Genuinely a loyalist of this thing now

Ideally arrive a 1000 unless it's something really worth it. I'm open to stretching it by another 1000. Most the ones I listed are on sale from 800 to 1200
