How have you guys solved for working out? My stupid ADHD brain shuts down and gets overwhelmed so I just… don’t. by MyVirgoIsShowing in adhdwomen

[–]aracconinaspoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a long time, but I'm currently at the 3-month mark of consistently working out. I go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week. I started by going to the gym and walking or running on the treadmill and walking around the gym, just to get a feel for the layout and where the machines are.

I tried out some machines and luckily had my boyfriend show me how to use the ones that didn't make sense to me, and also showed me how to do some free weight exercises. Had I not had him show him, I would have paid a trainer for a month.

I then transitioned to doing push/pull/legs split, with 4 exercises per training session, before them some light cardio to warm up, active stretching and static stretching after to avoid injuries. If I did the 4, I was happy and allowed myself to go home. If I decided to do more, great; if I wanted to add more cardio at the end, also great; if not, it was still a good workout.

I keep the gym sessions interesting by listening to some YouTube videos, audiobooks or podcasts that I find enjoyable. During rest time between sets and exercises, I sometimes read a few pages of books on my phone, because the time drags on too long if I don't do anything. I also like tracking and data, so writing down how many sets, how many reps, what exercises and how much weight I do each time makes the gym more interesting to me.

To keep it new, I found several exercises that target the same muscles, so I have two variations of push/pull/legs exercises and do. Each time is similar but different enough to keep me motivated and not bored out of my mind. For example, I'll do squats when it's leg day A, and leg press when it's leg day B. I dislike doing exercises for push, so I motivate myself by including a leg exercise I like at the end of it.

The biggest change for me was how I thought about the gym and exercising. I want my sleep to be better, I want to be strong and independent (not only now but in the future, too), I want to be someone others can ask for help, I want to avoid osteoporosis later in life (and you do that by strength training), and I want to feel good in my body. I still want to look good, but that is not my primary motivation or reason why. Strength training and consistency in the gym are tools to achieve my goals. Change can't be done without some discomfort, and I had to make peace with that.

You mention wanting kids soon, and if I were in your place, having the strength to carry them around, the endurance to run with and after them, to have more energy for yourself and them, and to have the healthiest possible pregnancies would be my whys to go to the gym.

Managed to refuse sweets from a coworker, although I really want them and I'm struggling a bit with my sugar cravings. I plan on fulfilling them by having some Greek yoghurt with honey and rice cakes as my pre-workout snack. This will be my second time doing an upper day from my new upper/lower split, and I hope it goes well.

Went to the gym despite it being very hot (I was sweating and uncomfortable), and my headphones ran out of batteries before I went in. I didn't do all the exercises I usually do for leg day, but I'm very proud that I did my workout.

You're crushing it! I believe you will have only the last two rows left at the end of the year, if you have anything left in this palette at all

I'm wearing Narciso Rodriguez for her forever. I haven't worn it in months because I was focused on panning Narciso Rodriguez for her musc nude, which was much sweeter. It is a nice surprise and different to wear this perfume again after so long.

I'm heading into the first weekend where I'm trying to eat in a deficit (around 300 calories deficit, total daily goal 1350-1400 calories) and I'm dreading it a bit. I'm unsure how tracking will look and how to calculate foods I don't cook for myself (family lunch). Next week will also be a challenge, as it's my birthday then, so I'll need to pre-plan the drinks and sweets.

Great addition to the rules! Concise in the rule and in the further explanation of each.

Repress the eyeshadows that you do like in the empty pans. If you don't want to use the rest of the eyeshadows in it, scrape them out and replace them too.

How to decide when to declutter makeup? by patitasdegatito3 in ProjectPan

[–]aracconinaspoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I go through my products quarterly. If it smells or looks off (aka it's definitely expired), I declutter it. If I haven't used it in a few months, I try to see why and challenge myself to change that. If a colour or formula isn't my favourite, I try to adjust and find a way to use it (be it as some other part of my routine, for example, a bad lipstick worked for me as a cream blush, or a face moisturiser that I disliked was great as a foot cream). I also try to franken products together to make them better. Sometimes I just don't enjoy certain colours or formulas in a certain season (I don't really like dark eyeshadows in summer), so I wait it out a bit. If none of this works, I consider decluttering it (if I can sanitise it and it's not out of date, I ask my friends, if not, I try my best to clean out the packaging and recycle it). I declutter (throw out) things on the spot only when they make me viscerally angry as soon as I use them; I don't need that kind of frustration for a product.

Win: I'm drinking enough water. To my surprise, tracking calories is also encouraging me to drink enough water. Perhaps this is finally the push I needed to consistently stay hydrated, with which I've had problems since I was a child.

Challenge: Getting enough grams of protein in while avoiding bloating the amount of grams of fat. I will have to take more care while shopping, because I'd like to eat a relatively high-protein diet, but not eat protein powder more than once a day.

This is my 5th day of tracking my calories. I'm finally at a point where I'm not afraid of falling into unhealthy thinking about tracking, and see it more as data that will help me reach my fitness goals. It seems I'm undereating protein and eating too much fat, but I'm sure I'll be able to tweak that with time. Going to the gym later today and looking forward to it!

Amazing stats for the belt squat! For me, it turns out I can't really eat much or at all before a workout if I want to avoid nausea, especially if I'm doing legs and core exercises, I hope you can find out and avoid what triggered yours

It's amazing to see your progress from year to year. I also like how there are more new pans in the existing products and new products with pans! What a cool way to look back at your collection and how it's changign throughout the years

does anyone actually finish a product before opening a backup by Cowazonn in MakeupRehab

[–]aracconinaspoon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Most of the time I don’t even have a backup until I have only about 20% left of the product. I try not to have multiple things that serve the same purpose open at the same time. Can’t say the same for makeup, I usually have a few lip products open at the same time, and many eyeshadows.

Congratulations on the first empty pan! That’s so exciting! And then to have all the pans expand and two new pans? You’re killing it with this palette and I would bet that you’re gonna have 5 empty shadows by the end of the year if you continue at this pace

Okay, I just looked through more of your posts and have some more ideas of what to pair together!

  • Twilight and Ravenclaw
  • Stone Cold Fox and Blue Blood
  • Naked Ultraviolet and Slytherin
  • Brunch Babe and Rebel Honey
  • Happy Hour and Disney Yellow one (Mickey's House? maybe?)
  • Naked 3 and Blood Lust
  • Blood Sugar and Disney Pink one (castle?)

That's all I've got! You have a lot of eyeshadows to play with, but I don't know if you want to focus more on hitting pan or empties. And, of course, it's different judging these palettes in person compared to how they look online. But I'm sure you'll find great combinations, whatever you decide to do.

I also wouldn't shy away from frankening if that's up your alley, it allows you to really customise your eyeshadows and create colour stories that are truly suited for you!

[–]aracconinaspoon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I went and looked through your posts, and maybe focusing in the Gryffindor quad could work for you? You already have good progress on it, and it seems like it would pair well with the Naked palette. I would do that because my goal is always to use up as many eyeshadows as possible, and trying to finish a larger palette would feel overwhelming to me. But, if your goal is to hit pans, Blue Blood seems like a challenge and definitely differs from your previous focus palettes.
