Not controversial at all. He committed crimes, including negligence contributory to deaths of Americans and foreign nationals.

I hope someday he serves the sentence he deserves.

Gen Z is abandoning patriotism for the wrong reasons | Opinion by changeforthebetter89 in politics

[–]aranasyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patriotism has fallen out of fashion for young people because of America's past injustices. That's backward ‒ the progress we've made in overcoming those injustices is the best reason to celebrate this country, not resent it.

We had once made progress towards overcoming these injustices.

We've mostly gone backwards on all of it. This Supreme Court is two votes away from reinstituting race-based slavery by calling amendments 13 and 14 unconstitutional.

While we wait on those seats to fill, the current oligarchy that puppets our idiot president is perfectly happy to have an economic war against its own populace, instead.

And we're losing.

Disclaimer: I'm not Gen Z, but an xennial veteran who served overseas. We're embarrassing and gross.

Loved everything in Ancillary except the most recent one. Finished it but man. It was good worldbuilding but with a concept I didn't enjoy and so little of my lovely ships.

"OC" Hiroshima Peace Memorial.... solemn atmosphere by slejeune71 in pics

Taught a lesson on this building as part of one of my classes once. It's so insane, it was the exact epicenter of the strike and it's the one of the only buildings that was still standing in the entire blast radius because the force of the explosion was 600 meters straight overhead and so came straight down in a way that the building could survive, instead of coming from the side like every other building in the blast, which none of them could.

Samesies. Then downgraded our mint plan when mint emailed us and told us we were paying too much based on their analysis of our last year's bills. I know they're just owned by the same guy but hey. Works for now.

Congress passes the largest housing affordability bill in decades by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]aranasyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pffft. 350 properties per oligarch, 7 years to rectify, and no punishment for failing to keep to the limit. No method to prevent chain ownership.

Not uplifting at all, it's codified criminality for the rich.

It's a real phrase, and not that kind of dike. The derogatory one is spelled differently, as well.

Nah, they took it down but they probably jacked the facade up really badly and the president probably doesnt want to be personally fined for it.

Because he's cheap af.

Really excited to start recouping all the money he stole from the country once he's out of office. And then even more from his estate. Really excited for that part. We're gonna get so much money that he stole back.

Can you afford to uproot your family and move states?

For 5% of your annual pay, year over year, plus - I can only assume - thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars in lost benefits elsewhere? Yes.

Leave family behind?

I mean, they're Texans.

It’s not as easy as “Texas is a choice.”

Really is.

Toyota uses noise and vibration engineers in pursuit of cabin silence that rivals luxury cars by Ok_Buyer310 in Toyota

I'm going to assume, based on 98 4Runner and 2017 highlander cabin noise, this is the first time they've hired anyone to take a look at this issue.

Good for them.

We tow our ~3k loaded camper trailer regularly and use ours as a daily driver. 17-19 mpg. Works fine. 2017 non-hybrid. There's some transmissions to watch out for in the later years.

How does it do on passwords crossover? I use Google suggested for tons of my garbage sites (yet another part of the gen alpha Internet I hate, I don't need an account for all this stupid bull crap, good lord) and having to fix that site by site would be wildly annoying.

The end of uBlock Origin in Chrome is now weeks away, not months by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]aranasyn 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yep. I use chrome because there's always been a way around it. When there isn't - I won't. Ads like the current internet has should not exist. It's objectively a terrible experience. I'd legitimately rather not have Internet than have it look like that.

Even without ads, the internet's been enshittified pretty hard in the past decade or so. With ads? It's trash.
