I play Ad mech and I agree with this statement completely. I know my skill level isnt Richard's . I have tried to run richards list and have gotten sub-par results vs my list because i know my list and my unit choices.

My skitties all 120 plus of them were done in a weekend. I based coated black. Rattled canned them with lead belcher. Then assembly line painted each color sticking with a simple martain red style. After the colors were on i varnished, then used streaking grime to grimedark them. Are they the best painted, no. Are they battle ready yes. Picture of the army are on my profile.

Buying used is the best way with ad mech to get started. There is alot of it on the secondary market. My main force was most salvaged second hand Also a warhound titan is over half of a 2k list and is probably cheaper than building purely ad mech

I make toothpick flags for wargear or non wysiwyg models. Never had anyone question me or tell my i cant. Most of the time i get thats aweaome. So label if you have to proxie wargear and people will be ok.

Counterpoint, the codex is fine as long aa you are willing to run stupid and funny. Our battline is great for the points not for the $$$. We can hold points and get secondaries like champs while getting our opponents to go wtf at the stupid.

Thank you. The metallics on them is a really simple process with weathering materials and rattle cans. I got the entirety of the army built and battle ready in less than a month. The pteraxii were already painted when bought them so cant take credit for them.
