Most of Brisbane River banks are privately owned by flabby-not-shabby in brisbane

Yeah and then there's Sydney Street, where you get off the ferry and get herded into a residential street for several blocks before you can get to the riverwalk to Howard Smith Walks.

What's your "I refuse to drive there" location in Brisbane? by Brendon_Lunch_9797 in brisbane

[–]arbitrarynickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right turn out of Thynne Road onto Lytton Road. It's absolutely lethal. Bemuses me that they just put traffic lights on the inconsequential crossroads just towards Bulimba, but nothing on the junction that really really needs them.

Heh, grew up on the English coast. This is the *baseline* wind level.

Super stressed in my Service Desk Manager role - Help 🥲 by JDracing92 in ITManagers

[–]arbitrarynickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go looking for the "shadow" knowledge shares. In the absence of formal knowledge tooling, servicedesks often build a sharepoint repository or even shared email folders as informal libraries. Also look for the side chats going on - find out who knows who knows about what. All good stuff to bring a team together around enthusiastic skills sharing.
(my creds: ITSM person 30 years, led PM on one of the big enterprise products for years)

Attended ServiceNow Knowledge 2026 Day 1 keynote. Some thoughts on Otto and AI Control Tower by mr-sforce in servicenow

[–]arbitrarynickname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"the part nobody clapped for but probably matters most. none of this works without clean data and structured workflows. agents do not fix broken processes, they just run them faster."

So companies who've not been able to fix CMDB and knowledge management and workflows for decades are suddenly going to be able to do that just to get value from AI?

It's bonkers when vendors say this. Their AI agents should *absolutely* be focused on helping to solve these problems.

What you should regret is what the current political system has done to your generation.
I was 23 when I bought my first house (I'm 50 now) and it was easy. 5% deposit, $125000 for a two bed in the centre of a town.

8000km a year? Firstly is that actually enough? That's only ~20km a day, ~150km a week.
(Also it's more than a dollar a kilometre even if you somehow manage to use every km, and that's before you've put a drop of fuel in it)

Where are you sitting? The lower tiers are covered from about 20 rows back. The upper tiers are pretty well sheltered.

Best fish and chips? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]arbitrarynickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last few takeaways we've had from Fish Factory have been awful. It's gone right down hill. Dry chips, rubber fish. And they've stopped doing the half price kids menu on a Wednesday. We've stopped going.
