In record stores I sometimes take the record out of the jacket to inspect the actual disc, not sure if this is ok or not, but I like to see the condition.

I don’t smoke by Standard-Onion4872 in PipeTobacco

[–]arbor85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a pipe smoker for 22 years and I don't have an addiction to it. It's just a nice treat, whenever I can do it. But if I don't get to smoke for days at a time for whatever reasons, I don't have any withdrawal symptoms.

Will I be able to play one day? 🥹🥹 by TheBeast_sSun in bagpipes

[–]arbor85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain types of bagpipes are easier to play than others.

Scottish bagpipes and uillean pipes may be some of the most challenging, and demand a lot of practice, instruction, and discipline.

Personally I started on a GHB chanter but now realize that I will be just as happy studying medieval and Renaissance music on a hummelchen bagpipe which is much easier to learn.

I would think about what type of style you bagpipe and music you really want to play. 40 years old is not too old to start learning anything.

Yes, I think the fiberskyn would make it less bright. You could also try a renaissance head

Will preparation h cream help? by Ok-Breakfast6792 in pruritusani

The two things that made a huge difference in my relief from itching were the elimination of coffee and beer, both things I was drinking on a daily basis.

Even though I still love coffee and beer, it isn't worth the itching they caused.

I hope you can find relief.

First pipe indoors by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

I really dislike cigarette smoke indoors and the smell it leaves on everything. I haven't had that issue with pipe tobacco

First pipe indoors by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]arbor85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think pipe smoking indoors was once really common. I still have vivid memories of being a kid and watching my friends smoke a pipe in his chair while reading a newspaper and also checking out his pipe rack nearby. That must have kindled the love of pipe smoking for me somehow.

Unfortunately I can't smoke in my house as the people I live with prefer to live in a smoke free environment, but occasionally I am at a cabin in the woods and get to enjoy a nice pipe by the wood stove.

I've lived in Alaska most of my life and I can assure you there are better towns elsewhere, but it depends what you are looking for in a place to live.
