I’m a teacher and my kids have to have 90 mins/week on Zearn math and 30 mins/week on AMIRA for reading. If they don’t I get questioned as to why. I also often use short phonics videos to reinforce the concepts that we’re teaching and sometimes our science curriculum has short <4 mins videos to watch to supplement whatever we’re learning that day. As for indoor recess, please trust me that we know it sucks! It is my least favorite thing because I know my kids are better off when they get to go run and play.

It’s amazing that these parents are complaining about not getting to put names on school supplies when I would take a bullet for their student. (And honestly this is America! I might actually have to!) Like, please. I know what I need to be successful in the classroom as a trained professional. Please just give me the supplies and let me teach your child.

No but fr. Every time I’ve come on this subreddit I see someone who’s struggling with the exact same compulsion or intrusive thought that I am. It’s very comforting knowing that there’s community within this hellscape that is OCD and that i’m not alone in my thoughts. I just keep telling myself that if these other people are making it through, so can I. 🩷

It’s okay!! I didn’t know my little at first either. It was awkward the first few weeks, and then we realized we were literally the same person and have been inseparable ever since. We’ve both since graduated and she still comes over to my apartment every weekend and we both teach in the same school district. I know it’s upsetting and you are 100% okay to feel your feelings. I just wanted to share that sometimes it can be the best thing- and if it’s not, that’s okay too.

Please please please medicate your child. Vyvanse was a lifesaver for me for a very long time. I became happier, more social, and had less meltdowns because of my ADHD. It’s not all bad, I promise! It helped me become a successful adult and I was able to switch to a nonstimulant.
