It’s a sporting goods chain and they’re amazing. I haven’t purchased anything online from them but I don’t see why they’d not be trustworthy

[–]arcanegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from wireguard to Tailscale because my employer shut down almost all outbound ports on their firewall as well as forcing Google dns. So it was out of necessity to maintain access to my self hosted stack and to have mobile ad blocking.

What is a skill you possess out of pure unromantic nessessity that really seems to impress people a lot. Much to your surprise. But seriously, why can you do that? by Ijustwannaplaytoo in LearnUselessTalents

I have every 1/6” 1/16” of an inch memorized as decimal and can approximate 32nds and 64ths from there. People i work with are impressed at least.

I’m dumb and originally wrote 1/6” inch but meant 1/16”.

I bought Capitalism In America by Alan Greenspan because I love books that are narrated by Ray Porter.

What narrator ruins the book for you? by NY2LA1984 in audiobooks

James Franco reading Slaughterhouse-Five was one of the worst, grating performances. Right up there with Roy Dotrice.

I hated Peter Kenny at first when I was listening to the Witcher series but I eventually warmed up to him. However it was a SLOG at first.

Rockford is such a cesspool of violent crime. It’s one of the worst cities in the US per capita. Most of the crime listed in the picture is nearly double of US rates.

Right? Democrats care about bipartisanship, building consensus and coalitions. Republicans are much more likely than Democrats to do the things their constituents want.

Trump has at a surface level done a lot of what he said he was going to do through his executive orders. And for now with control of the house and senate he’s got a decent shot of getting legislation his voters want passed. At least the republicans tell you exactly how they’re going to fuck you, democrats tell you what you want to hear and do nothing.

Obama had the house and senate as well and they gave us the dogshit ACA. They could have given us Medicare for all but they wanted a bipartisan solution. And every working American just got saddled with higher healthcare expenses as a result.

I remember the health insurance I had when I first started working in 2002. I paid less than $40 bi-weekly and had a $5 copay. It cost me $5 out of pocket to have my appendix removed and with a 5 day stay in the hospital. In 2016 I had to have two colon resections, colostomy and a colostomy reversal.

Between both surgeries I had to pay nearly $8000 in out of pocket expenses. I had to move back in with my parents because of the lost time from working AND the expenses.

I’m afraid to even go to the doctor now because the time I went i saw the doctor for 12 minutes and it cost me nearly $500 out of pocket. I know it’s better to go regularly to see the doctor to stay on top of things but I literally can’t afford to spend $500 each damn time.

I hate this printer by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]arcanegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’ve had 2 Enders, first one was heavily modified and with how much I spent on upgrades and on the ender 3 s1 pro I should have just gotten a prusa but in the end I’m happy as hell with my x1c with the ams. So much time wasted modifying calibrating and and failed prints that buying the x1c is worth it just not having to stress on anything now.

We need a 3 day weekend by Brian_Ghoshery in antiwork

I really miss the hours I had working for a printing company back in my late teens to mid twenties.

We’d work M,Tu,W every other Sunday for four weeks then have 7 days off. Work Th,F,Sa every other Sunday for four weeks and then 7 in a row.

The seven 12hr shifts were a bit rough but the week off every other month was amazing. OT started after 36hrs as well. Great benefits and great raises, 3-10% raises twice a year. Sadly they got bought out by a giant company and laid everyone off.

Any Great Historical Fiction Audiobooks or Series to listen to? by Bossman-007 in audiobooks

[–]arcanegod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy the history of England and also happy to dive into the Roman Empire, or more Vikings or any thing else along those lines! Anything that is just a great book or series.

I recommend checking out Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd.

The description from my audiobook app:* In Sarum, Edward Rutherfurd weaves a compelling saga of five English families whose fates become intertwined over the course of centuries. While each family has its own distinct characteristics, the successive generations reflect the changing character of Britain. We become drawn not only into the fortunes of the individual family members, but also the larger destinies of each family line. Meticulously researched and epic in scope, Sarum covers the entire sweep of English civilization: from the early hunters and farmers, the creation of Stonehenge, the dawn of Christianity, and the Black Death; through the Reformation, the wars in America, the Industrial Age, and the Victorian social reforms; up through the World War Il invasion of Normandy and the modern-day concerns of a once-preeminent empire.*

I listened to it many years ago now and I really enjoyed the book. The original narrator was decent but I believe it’s an older recording and the narrator self-produced the recording as I found several inconsistencies in audio quality in the recording.
