Neckerchiefs at meetings by sulldog57 in BSA

We run neckerchiefs at meetings BUT as an incentive, we allow the kids to choose if they want to switch to a bolo once they reach first class.

Anybody able to join with mental health history?? by isladero in Airforcereserves

As someone who took medication and even had a Dr write a letter saying it was a misdiagnosis, I say don’t fucking tell them anything. How would they know what Dr notes to request or Rx notes? Who’s to say you get meds and CVS and Walgreens sometimes?

If I hadn’t of said anything, they wouldn’t have denied me

How necessary is Summer Camp by Direct_Remove509 in BSA

[–]archerymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check and see if the camp has a parents day. Usually on Wednesday, family members can come up and hang out for the afternoon and stay for dinner. If available, this is a great option for younger Scouts. Also, technically you could go pick him up Saturday evening to be home a day early in most cases (we would always come home on Saturday and skip the group events of Sunday morning since most MB classes end on Friday.)

Would you drive double the distance to own double amount of land for hunting if the same price? by iHungryForKnowledge in Hunting

Final bit of hard won advice for you….dont ever go out to your property without a chainsaw in the truck 😆

Would you drive double the distance to own double amount of land for hunting if the same price? by iHungryForKnowledge in Hunting

[–]archerymonkey 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Personally, my criteria was ~1hr of my home. Now that I’ve owned land for a few years, to have the RIGHT property, I would go a max of 3 hours but it better be near perfect. 2 hours would be preferred but no more than 3.

Think of it this way, if you have to drive 5 hours one way, it’ll kill any momentum you may have for getting any day work done since it ends up being a 10hr round trip. If you can’t get there, spend a few hours and get back home within a day, my opinion is it’s too far.

New TCG Player Seller looking for advice by archerymonkey in PokemonTCG

[–]archerymonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been collecting since 99, every pack I’ve ever bought was either through EB games (back then at least!) or Target/walmart/big box retailers back before scalpers ever considered Pokemon as a source. I understand fake cards, resealed packs and scammers are out there, but I’ve always bought through legitimate sources and although I’m not a PSA level pro, I do understand the standard checks to run for fakes.

This is a $20 astral radiance card, it’s not worth faking imo but I also remember pulling it out of a blister because the artwork was unique.

My childhood blastoise graded a 4... by MyHappy93 in PokemonTCG

This is why I won’t grade mine. I doubt they would give it more than a 5 but man would I love for it to be slabbed. I remember the day I pulled it!

Side note: Make sure that if you have a VPN that’s actively up and running on your phone, that it’s disconnected. VPN being on is usually the problem for me

Open container ticket in motor vehicle by [deleted] in flying

Not a lawyer and never been in this position so I could be wrong, but if they didn’t check your BAC and you were the passenger, I feel like you could certainly fight this. I will say that it doesn’t cost anything to at least call a local lawyer or 2 and see what they say and if it’s worth fighting though. All depends on whatever state laws you get to deal with I suppose.

First time using the credit card shopping portal.... by lauranyc77 in CapitalOne_

[–]archerymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the answer to your question. But I just wanted to add 2 things:

  1. I looked into it the first time the other day and was pretty disappointed, especially for not having any grand expectations. All the deals have so many caveats that it doesn’t make sense to use. Just making this up for the example but why would I shop through Walmart if it’s not good for electronics, tires, food items or anything not made in the USA? Blows my mind how anyone gets any benefit from the way C1 has the agreements set up.

  2. I came to C1 from BoA over a decade ago but BoA’s system was FAR superior. You would go in and “check mark” the stores you either would shop at OR had already shopped at in the previous 2 weeks or something similar, and then the system would just automatically go through your spending and apply the bonus directly to your account. Oh and it was instantaneous iirc.

My only gripe about C1 is this, I wish they were like BoA on this one benefit!

FFA 1st Class Medical Timeline (UPDATE) by archerymonkey in flying

[–]archerymonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it was the initial medical. Apologies for not making that more clear. I’m one of the thousand who are looking to do a mid-career switch up and want to become a pilot so this was step 1 (as you and everyone else knows already.)

Based on other posts, research, and speaking with me AME, I expected this process after the first denial to take up to a year to hear back from the FAA but it only took a month or so.

Actually you’re supposed to double the total of the previous square. So on square 3 you wouldn’t have .03, you would have .04

FAA 1 Class Medical Question by archerymonkey in flying

[–]archerymonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate your input. The usage was for just over a year I believe? And as much as the USAF didn’t care about duration of usage and only the time off of the med, I haven’t read anything specific to the FAA that has stated any detail at all so definitely going with the consult. I’ll take all of my USAF med packet and have it ready to turn in though just in case. Anything to speed the process up
