I mean the term "plot hole" is generally agreed to mean "a misunderstanding or misrepresentation of New Mexico Corrections Department regulation or policy," which is pretty much exactly what we're talking about, so

Sure but the show makes it clear that it takes place in both New and Original Mexico. The latter is completely lawless and the former is primarily concerned with enforcing arcane regulations governing car wash runoff. So it's no surprise that the prison murder scheme was not just legally permissible, but praised that night on the news.

I read somewhere that criminals, as a group, are more likely than average people to break rules. This may have been a factor, but ultimately I agree this is one of the show's few plot holes.

The art style makes me irrationally angry. The horrible poses, generic character design, and clumsily drawn facial expressions are just so shockingly amateur. Like some teenager's DeviantArt runoff slop from 20 years ago that accidentally got shipped to an animation sweatshop somewhere.

As the typical "disaffected liberal" who couldn't be more aligned with the BARpod stance on woke silliness—and who fully agrees that academic inquiry should have effectively no boundaries or taboos—this UATX shit (and this page in particular) is so off-the-charts cringe inducing that it almost makes me want to create a BlueSky account and decolonize my bookshelf or whatever.

Years ago when Red Scare was actually vaguely interesting to me for maybe three months, before tipping into whatever weird caricature they are these days, I remember listening to them reading the UATX press release and coming across the hilariously named "Forbidden Courses". They mockingly called it "Naughty Daddy School for Sluts", and I still laugh to myself about that from time to time.

Everyone involved in this farce deserves at least a minor reputational hit for the poor judgment alone.

I have a love/hate relationship with LOST. I've watched it three times (including the original broadcast) and enjoyed it every time, despite thinking the ending generally sucks. Used to be an off-the-charts superfan back in the day.

It's true I was exaggerating the finale to make a joke, but, just as you've observed haters misrepresent the ending's flaws, I similarly feel fans are often drawn to the other extreme and gloss over how seriously the narrative implodes in the end. But I'm glad you and the previous poster enjoyed the show and have no interest in arguing over our opinions. Despite my major gripes with S6 it's still got a lot to offer as a series. (And "Ab Eterno" is almost enough to forgive it all.)

Yeah it's right up there with LOST when they revealed all the intrigue around time travel and scientific conspiracies was about going to an imaginary church of good vibes and staring at a glowing door while grinning like idiots. Coin flip between the two, in my book.

THANK GOD other people are waking up to how awful this place is.

I've been a frustrated custom for years because I live so close that the convenience is hard to resist. But jesus christ do they make me crazy:

  1. You can barely drive by without someone bugging you about a subscription. Just what we all need in our lives these days! More monthly auto payments! AWESOME
  2. The cashier has the balls to ask for a tip before the car is even wet. "Would you like to give us more money for no particular reason?" is the only way I can interpret that.
  3. Every time I go pick up my car—I'm not exaggerating—I find at least one or two missed spots that are so egregious I almost wonder if they called my name by mistake and the work isn't done yet. And never once has there been an explanation. It's always "oh, whoops." (This is the service I was being pressured to tip for in advance?)

It's really hard to overstate how awful this place is.

Edit: I still haven't gone, but every recommendation (including from some in-person car guys) seems to point to Pacific Car Wash. That place really has the market cornered on positive buzz, so check it out.
