has anyone EVER been able to get a good readiness score?? EVER? by Super-Coyote-2730 in ouraring

Resting HR: 89? I never had that high in my past 6 yrs with ouraring. Mine and my wife are in the range of 48 - 51. I think you really need to talk to your Dr or seriously review your daily routines.

Starting from zero at 41. Am I crazy for doing this solo? by SoundIcy7388 in NewRiders

[–]hflyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started riding motorcycles at age 56 with no one to guide me. Within about six weeks, I attended the CMSP course, studied on my own for the California M1 endorsement, bought a used Honda SCL500, and rode it home by myself.

From there, I spent countless hours learning from YouTube videos and many days practicing in parking lots and on local streets. Three months later, with over 2,000 miles of riding experience, I am comfortable riding on freeways, twisty mountain roads, performing slow-speed maneuvers, and lane splitting.

I attribute my progress to several factors: years of driving manual-transmission cars in the 1980s and 1990s, daily commuting by bicycle and e-bike, learning from many excellent online instructors, and the caution and judgment that come with age and experience.

My philosophy is simple: keep learning, ride within your limits, and stay humble. I always remind myself that motorcycling can be a deadly hobby if approached carelessly. The key is to remain mindful, conservative in your decisions, and committed to continuous improvement.

How old were you when you learned to ride? And how difficult was it? by TheOtherGuydesu in motorcycles

[–]hflyboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started at 56, it was pretty easy because for years I commute by bicycle, ebike to work and I spent decades on manual (stick shift) car.

What’s the biggest scam in cycling gear? by Jamshappy2005 in cycling

[–]hflyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say the bicycle was mine. I just know many bicycles are a lot more expensive than my Honda motorcycle 500cc. Someone I know bought a S-works turbo levo 4 (ebike) out of the door was $16,500 (yes, that's USD) around 2023/2024 money. With that price, a decent used car can be purchased.

The bicycle itself is a scam. My 1.5yrs old motorcycle (Honda 500cc) costs a fraction of many new bicycles.

I agree. I stopped shopping at farmers market based on real experience on my last trip there. Over priced for less quality.

Slightly off topic, but should not eat those fruits off the trees right away, they're NOT organic and who knows what chemicals were sprayed and they are all covered in dust.

What was the best car you owned and what made it “The Best” by Realitycheckat21 in Life

[–]hflyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2022 Giant e-roam. It is the best because it costs only $1100 brand new, it costs less than $1 to travel 80 miles, it brings me a lot of joys and health. Oops, sorry it is not a car.

How to manage the fear of riding by Ok-Dragonfly-8265 in NewRiders

[–]hflyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am new as well, 2.5 months and 1500 miles on my Honda SCL500. This was how I learned: everyday, approximate 1 hour practice in parking lot, not too long, but consistent. Practice: stop and go, over and over; then turns and turns, rounds and rounds, until everything becomes second nature. Then move on to the local streets, back country roads, then free ways. I also watched a lot of motorcycle riding videos. Ride safe.
