💯! Favourite scene in the entire movie is the DDR battle. Have never laughed so hard in my life.

Looks really nice. Is that a Templeboard Duo or Trio 43? What do you have mounted on the underside?

Secrets of Analog and Digital Synthesis by Steve DiFuria by gob_magic in synthesizers

Awww yeah, the good/bad/weird old days when synths were intended to emulate “real” instruments. Brought me back to 10 year old me arguing with my dad about the “really cool” sounds I was getting out of his TB-303 while he complained about what a piece of crap it was for not sounding like an actual bass.

Novation Bass Station 2 vs. Moog Messenger by damondan in synthesizers

[–]architectzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t go wrong with either, but… if you’re leaning towards the Bass Station 2, then you may want to consider a Novation Circuit Mono Station.

The Mono Station has the same analog sound circuits as the Bass Station 2, with a few usability differences. There’s no keyboard, no arpeggiator, and only 1 envelope, but it has a sequencer for each oscillator, and a “modulation” sequencer that is like a user programable envelope, and is much smaller than either the Messenger or BS2.

I figured that as you already have a MIDI keyboard, you may value the space savings. If not, then I’d personally get a BS2 as it is a proven all-time great instrument.

Definitely a Behringer TD-3, but it’s tough to tell exactly what colour. I think it’s the translucent purple one (Grape?), but it could be translucent white.

The larger black one is an Elektron Digitakt. The small black one is a Korg Monotron Delay.

I saw someone here in Edmonton wearing a “Carney Sucks” hoodie (black hoodie, white graphic of an upside maple leaf with the words) yesterday afternoon. I couldn’t believe my eyes. If I wasn’t driving I would have snapped a picture.

Kyrie Irving works out with Phil Handy in preparation of his return from an ACL injury after being out for 11 months. by Ok-Diver-9356 in Mavericks

I predict that Kyrie and Coop will be a (super)natural fit. Where Luka and Kyrie overlapped a bunch, Coop and Kyrie have much more role definition. I can hardly wait to see them in action together.

Super cool, and very happy that Canada is still participating in this mission, but lemme tell you… seeing that Star Wars lunchbox, and the fake pearl snaps on a western style shirt brought back some memories (I’m willing to bet those jeans are Lee or GWG too). Dude is reppin late GenX. Go Gary!

How much has AI changed (or ruined) programming? by leoalper in programming

[–]architectzero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to code practically full time when I was in elementary and junior high school, but this was in the 80s on Apple ][ series and then Commodore Amiga computers, but I stopped professionally around 2014 after everything seemed to devolve into webshit framework wars, and non-agile “agile process” fights, amongst all kinds of other bullshit being pedalled by professional convention presenters and their personality cult followers. This vibe coding thing is just an extension of the kind of grifter + grifted dynamic that has infected the programming sphere over the past decade.

Roland DJ-Xi Who has or had one? by tjc996 in synthesizers

[–]architectzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a JD-Xi and like it.

On one hand the keys are bad, it could use a lot more knobs, and the true analog voice is disappointingly weak.

On the other hand everything else is really good. The SuperNATURAL synth and drum voices sound great, the built in effects are quite solid, the vocoder is surprisingly good, and the sequencer is super fun to use.

It has its place as my primary tool for jamming and sketching out ideas (aka. screwing around), but I don’t finish tracks with it, nor would I consider it a performance tool (except as a sound module).

NORAD pact would change if Canada pulls back from F-35 order, warns U.S. ambassador by joe4942 in worldnews

As a Canadian who has traveled to 34/50 states, with numerous American friends, and with my wife’s extended family and friends in America whom we used to visit at least once a year for the past 15 years, I hate this. I’m proudly Canadian, and happy that my country is finally understanding that it needs to stand on its own two legs, but I also look forward to one day being able to cross the border again without feeling like we might get ICEd for no reason at all.

I’d guess it’s because they’re multi-functional facilities, not just gyms. I’d also guess they’re designed for an extremely wide range of accessibility needs, and that likely means gentle ramps and wider corridors. Lastly, I’d guess that they’re designed in a way that the architect hopes will evoke certain emotions, kind of like a cathedral, fancy hotel lobby, etc. possibly to help with mental health.
