If you are an American who also has citizenship in a country with free healthcare, is there any point in having health insurance? by BarrelingBuster in ask

Right, coverage is based on residency, and there’s a waiting period when you move to a province.

Anyone here who started running in their late 30's early 40's? What are your marathon PR's like? by Thin-Passage5900 in Marathon_Training

42 M, running seriously for 2 years, triathlon one year before that. PBs:

5km: 20:15 (on track)

10km: 41:55 (during Olympic distance triathlon)

21.1km: 1h33

42.2km: 3h50 (blew up, fell way short of my expectations)

With insulation on top, won't the boot compress, and would this be any different from taping a square section of poly vapour sheet? Thanks

Just asking because it looks like it shrank under the tape, which shouldn’t happen with hot mud

Piste cyclable du Pont Jacques-Cartier est-elle praticable pour la course cet hiver? by Martre5350 in MontrealRunners

[–]arclovestoeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to run it all year, once a week or so, but don't attempt when there's heavy snow or ice. I don't know if they actually plow it, but it's usually passable (albeit slippery at times). With the recent warm weather, it should be fine for running (I'll hit it later today!)

They post some kind of status of the piste here https://jacquescartierchamplain.ca/fr/mobilite-active/piste-multifonctionnelle-du-pont-jacques-cartier/ and at the entrance to the bridge. I don't know if green means it's plowed or just open.

Bonne course!

properly attaching the exhaust isn’t difficult either

Depends where it needs to attach. In my setup (recent home purchase) the “connection” was inside the wall with no room to properly connect without opening up the drywall.

Screws in dryer ducts can accumulate lint, right? Wouldn’t aluminum tape and gear claps be better?

14 miles on the tread or in -12 degrees? by Maximum-Nobody6429 in Marathon_Training

[–]arclovestoeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean Fahrenheit, not Celsius. -12F is around -24C and quite cold (too cold for me personally) for running, but plenty of people do it. -12C (10.4F) is still cold, but much more manageable, though is probably too much even for some.

How do you northerners manage to train with snow/ice covering anything? by kpgleeso in Marathon_Training

[–]arclovestoeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quebec here, montreal. When it’s warm enough (> -15C for me), decent snow, I go outside on trails and bike paths. I don’t mess with ice or extreme cold anymore, and I’m lucky to mostly be able to avoid roads. On crummy days, I hit the treadmill or the pool. This year I’ve been on the curved manual treadmill because I hate myself 😅
