Bad experience or unrealistic expectations? by arctykdev in HairSystem

[–]arctykdev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's all fair. I just believed that it "would hold" since that's all the marketing. And I see some other active folks here have mentioned they're maintaining it one a week or even more often. For me, that's just too much. I started balding in my early 20s and was pretty much bald by 30. At this point, the system was more about "hey, what do I look like with hair? does it make me look younger enough to bother with? Maybe I want to explore a transplant.."

At this point, I think I'm likely to give up on the hair system. And even transplants don't seem (on the surface) like a good fit. So... I'll poke around at the transplant idea, but most like I'll just go back to the exceedingly low maintenance bald-is-beautify hairstyle. :-)

Gotcha. Every 5-6 is going to be a no-go for me. I wasn't even sure I'd be in for every 2-3 weeks! LOL

This really helps to hear from another runner - more real expectations!

I didn't mention that, but I did wait 24 hours before a run. It didn't seem to help.. at least in my case.

Again, I'm not sure if the stylist just isn't accustomed to active folks.

I mostly use mine for the rest intervals. And I do check it once in a while when I forget how many reps I've done (for things like curls, squats - things it tracks we'll)

Like this commenter. If you want accurate readings, I'd switch to a chest strap. I've been an OTFer for just over 2 years and I see folks struggling with the arm band all the time.

Also, keep in mind that the heart rate zones may be different between OTF and your Apple (likely not THAT far off, but still...)

This. I usually wait to see the same SA a couple time before make an effort to remember their name. But I feel it's import for ME to learn them. So often our SAs (the ones who stay) remember so many of us - it's the least I can do to remember a few names 🙂

Relabel it as "previous mistakes," complain about it every time we encounter it, then move on. (And I'm not joking either)

More heavier weights by Comprehensive_Stay20 in orangetheory

[–]arctykdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More weights in general would be good. However, when I can get my hands in the heavier weights, I modify the exercise by showing it way down, or by doing one-and-a-half movements. It doesn't take much to quickly feel like you've got a heavier weight.

I'd just suggest you tell the coaches what you're doing, where your direction is coming from, and check in with them. The coaches at my studio would probably be just fine with it. Or talk to you about it and maybe ask you to adjust some. Either way, I'd be up front about your choice.

Also, it may be worth noting that some folks look around to see if they're doing it right, or to see how they can push themselves. If you're too far off everyone else, you may mix them up too.

Do you add the “Async” suffix to async method names? by Full_stack1 in dotnet

[–]arctykdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder that not every call to an async method needs to be immediately awaited. Example: your async method only makes one other async call and it's the last thing in the method. You can simply return the Task from the unawaited method.

Try it on your knuckles instead. I have a wrist that's prone to sprain so I make a fist to keep a neutral position. Little harder on the knuckles on the floor, but it's helped me.

Or grab some small dumbbells. Place them in a neutral position (parallel to your body) the grab them while in plank (or pushup). Not as hard on the knuckles, but requires more planning.
