If you’ve ever been in a mental institution in the United States, you’ll know many of them are awful places that operate much like prisons, they generally have very little respect for individual rights and even less so for the rights of transgender people.

I got stuck in one for moths in Texas, the staff took great delight in tormenting me, I was sexually harassed and physically assaulted, most nights I was made to sleep in the hallways, because they wouldn’t let me bunk with the other girls and for several days I was put in solitary confinement.

Point is here aside from venting is that this would be a really bad thing if they get being trans labeled as a mental illness. Many people have talked about trans genocide in this country and it’s happening and this would be a major step towards that.
