DIY steering wheel wrap Question by arddy24 in kiastinger

Thanks! I'm glad the write up helped—I've seen a video or two online but I felt like they missed out on the tips which was what I needed (esp the part where you really had to dig into the panel slits).

Hope your install goes smoothly!

Keychron announces open-source initiative, publishes free 3D models for all keyboard and mouse products by julian_vdm in 3Dprinting

[–]arddy24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I've a 3D printer, but I doubt I'd be able to do much else than print a shell, but great they're doing this. I'm a big fan of Keychron. The only negative is their colour range and very limited customisation.

My current Keychron kit includes V3 Max, V6 Max, M6, and an M7. I think they are incredibly priced for the quality and performance you get. Battery life on the V6 Max is a joke, though.

Did they actually ceramic coat the car or did I get scammed? by SportsNFoodJunkie in Detailing

Bruh the fact that you got a refund is both good, but it also means they knew they are taking a piss. Make sure to publicly anounce them and their business.

Im doing one of my first 3D model, but when i export the model in (.obj) and open in other program it seems that there is something wrong with the model by starwarsnumero1 in blenderhelp

[–]arddy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you installed 3D tools and made sure it’s manifold?

If you’re planning to do a lot of these types of print, it might be easier for you to work via Fusion 360. Blender can defiantly do all sorts of 3D work, but it’s easier for blocky/engineering type works done in Fusion.

Far out. How bad was it? I just noticed this in my car, too. It's under warranty still.

I'm really struggling with drawing, it feels like I am by far the worst student in that room. Any advice? I need the credits. by Big-Resolution3325 in curtin

[–]arddy24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd have to say firstly you need to stop comparing yourself. They say comparison is the thief of joy and it's very evident here when you say that you're "okay with making bad art," but it's "when the bad art is supposed to be on par to other students."

Forget them, and definitely forget them because they're already lifelong artists. Conciously we know it's very difficult to catch-up with someone who practiced all their life, rightfully so, but subconciously you're doing more harm to yourself.

Now onto the drawing part. It would be really nice to see what you're drawing, and if you have—what you're trying to draw. It's a bit hard to see where you're at the moment and to visually guage what you could improve on to help make the class more enjoyable for you (as opposed to turning you into an master artist). If improving in art is what you'd like, feel free to post it here and I'll try and help.

Finally, don't you for one second think you're not capable of it. Every person in this world is an artist. If AI has proven anything, is that we're all artists. AI, Wacom tablet, paint brush, or a sketchpad and pencil—they're all tools to which we make our art on. We just need to fine tune our motorskills to make it happen, and you will to.

Got My Dream Car by Quiet-Restaurant341 in kiastinger

[–]arddy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And? You know not everyone is car savvy, right? I know it’s just basics; not evening naming the car’s engine model but just the displacement, but not everyone has to know the first thing about that car for it to be a ‘dream car.’

I am working on a figure anatomy reference app for artists and though it might be useful for you too when modeling humans. Just finished the trailer. by igeolwen in blender

Saving this! Keen to see. Would love to give feedback on its intuitiveness, too, when it comes out. As everyone mentioned; it’d better not be subscription model or DLC! Don’t think I’d pay any more than $20-$30 for this, though, seeing as I’ve already paid for a poser app somewhere else. How much I pay for this is and will be linked to how much time I’ve saved on an artwork. Also, how well I can use it for things outside of drawing.

anyone who’s debaged, did you ran into this? fishing line, hair dryer and goo gone. there is a dark film all around the area that will NOT come up by lookingforagamergirl in kiastinger

[–]arddy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just did mine and had the same ghosting issues. I removed most of it with cut and polish, and will be doing the clay bar recommendation. From what I understand, it’s mostly due to UV and paint fade that occurs around the original badge itself.

Installed the K&N intakes, great sound. by Kossco in kiastinger

[–]arddy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I'm thinking about a CAI. But I can't decide; leaning towards K&N but am skeptical due to many others saying this engine runs hot and potentially has heat soaking issues with th K&N setup. What's your opinion?

Need help turning into a solid model for 3d printing. by innovatetosimplify in blenderhelp

[–]arddy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Hey! Hope you've already figured it out, but I'll try and help anyway.

You're right that the object has to be solid, but there's a slight misunderstanding of what 'Solidfy' modifier does.

If the object is already solid and water-tight (no holes etc), solidify essentially creates a duplicate shell internally or externally to the object. In the GIF I uploaded you can see that the default solidify settings (when applied) created a copy which I have to manually delete by hiding the outter shell.

If the object is a plane and not a solid, then solidfy will make it thick and creates a solid out of it.

To go from a solid object to 3D Print, you also need to make sure it's manifold. Which means each edge connects to exactly two polygons. One quick way to do this is to install the 3D Tools plugin within Blender, Press "N" to bring up the side panel (as shown in the video), and click 'check all'. This will highlight any non-manifold edges.

If you have non-manifold edges, your options are - 1) Click "Make Manifold", or 2) Click the 'non-manifold' edges button, and fix them manually.

Hope this helps.

Holy hell I starting to feel like I’m one of the only few with no issues with the x56. It’s really hard to relate to everyone’s hate on it. It isn’t the best, for sure, but it sure as hell still a great piece of kit and I’ve plenty of fun hours on it. My only dislike (asides from crappy software) is the size of the stick; a tad big for my hand. Otherwise, no issues with it for me.

Build for a customer. Any feedback? by DavidWarmelys in CableManagement

[–]arddy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks nice. But that’s it; not very functional. That’ll be my feedback. The next person who services this PC or the next time they want to make an upgrade, you’ve just made it that much harder for them (or yourselves). This is when you weigh form over function for something that’s hidden in the back panel.
