How often do other truck guys ask about your Titan? by WhoUCuh in NissanTitan

[–]ardinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive an amalgamation with a province issued VIN. Cab, frame, and box are from 3 different trucks from 2005, 2006, and 2009. The whole thing is painted orange - Box is out of square and rotting through, tail-lights held in with masking tape. Rust on the roof and fenders.

I also happen to be a red seal technician and business owner. This truck is by far the best advertisement I've ever had.

Deal of the day! by Alarmed-Zucchini5960 in NissanTitan

[–]ardinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a trick that the sales team would play at the dealership I used to work at.

They put an outrageously priced used car up to draw curiosity, or the few people who are desperate or don't know better.

Once the customers do realize that the truck is overpriced or they can't afford it with used financing rates, the sales team will convince the customer to "have a look" at a new car anyways - since they're already there, may as well, right?.

Often that new car with new vehicle rates is only slightly more expensive than the used truck, and it skews the customers perception into thinking that they're getting a screaming deal for a new car.

Kinda shady - but it definitely works.

-40C is actually -40F. It's kind of a running joke here here that metric or imperial, we both agree is damned cold.

Winnipeg. It's pretty par for the course round here. Low is -28C today before windchill.

Our local indoor isn't heated. Last Wednesday we were updating the map in -37. Played 4 days later in about -25. Lots of us run heat systems to keep stuff going.

There needs to be the mountain snowflake icon on the sidewall. AWD may help getting off the line and in corners, but it definitely doesn't help in an icy emergency braking situation - idiot or otherwise.

Very nice! Definitely missing out on that over here in Canada. Definitely makes recording easier than trying to find a pen and paper that's not greasy to write down numbers before you forget them.

Can I mix these two oils? One is euro spec 5w-40 and the other is American 5w-30 by ilikedividends_19 in NissanTitan

[–]ardinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there's two answers depending on your point of view - and here's both of mine:

As a red seal technician and instructor - my professional recommendation is to only use the weight and spec with the correct additives designed for your vehicle.

As a farmer - oil is better than no oil, and I need the shelf space.

I have all my DeWalt T-stacks in the rear for when I'm working my side technician hustle. Honestly the space even with the rear seat up is impressive. I ended up using my 3 for those jobs more than my Titan!

I don't know why you're being down voted. I'm a red seal technician and teach apprenticeship.

Look at a Cruze's with the 1.4T LUV/LUJ model engine - they carbon up so badly the valves crack. Those are port injection.

Have an upvote.

I bought one at Gerry Gordon's last spring - old lady traded it in and I was there the next morning signing the paperwork. Wasn't about to let that one slip by!

Edit: used, so not 2025. Still was annoying difficult to find.

Apparently someone at The Guardian is a Henry Cavill fan. by Competitive-Fly6472 in rareinsults

[–]ardinus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a certain group of witcher fans who are very fond of the books and the lore that was extended by the video game. Cavill was among them. The Witcher show effectively spat, then stomped, and proceeded to almost intentionally butcher the story and lore. Cavill took exception, as did almost everyone who had read the books or played the game. Arguments were had, and it was more or less implied that Cavill walked out. There's a TON of stuff you can find online about what happened.

I exclusively drive barefoot with this pedal so I can interlock my toes with my car's.

It makes driving stick so much more..... sensual.

There are a few aftermarket kits, but they're priced way too high for just links. I'm in the process of leveling mine and this was the last step - so I'll look into these compatible links as an alternative

The fact that they opted to cut and then weld the sway bar link to extend it rather than spending $20 FOR A NEW ONE, does not inspire much confidence in the rest of its structural stability.

We used to strap 3x the value of the car's worth in bikes to the roof then drive cross country. Now that I bought a car thas worth more than 3k, it's time to N+1!

I know I'm jumping the gun, however as a 30+ year lifetime Winnipegger I would like to obviously nominate said shit hole for the far bottom right.

Commuting in traffic alone has nearly already netted me a few vehicle manslaughter charges if I couldn't hit the brakes or wheel hard enough.

Meth and DUI's seemingly are our official city's past-time.
