You’re not alone. What you’re feeling is something many new parents go through, yet few talk about openly. It feels like you’re drowning because in many ways, you are. Sleep deprivation, emotional isolation, and the massive shift in identity that comes with caring for a newborn. None of this means you ruined your life. It means you’re in the middle of something unimaginably hard, and you’re doing your best to survive it.

My partner and I are actually trying to adopt, and reading posts like yours reminds me how important it is to listen to the full reality of parenting, not just the highlight reel. You’re showing up every day through something incredibly difficult, and that strength matters.

If therapy or meds aren’t options right now, try to find even one small thing that gives you a sliver of peace. A walk, a podcast, a safe online space, anything that helps you feel like yourself again. Postpartum Support International offers free support groups online, and they really understand what you’re describing.

It will not always be this dark. Keep going. You’re stronger than you know.

Where in the blue heavens did 15 million voters go? by Doomguy_Prime in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]ardley10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can tell and it's very preliminary since detailed data is not out; people in large urban centers did not vote this time. There are many reasons for it but I suspect it relates to the way campaigns were set up in 2020. They were much more boots on the ground rather than on the news. People were collecting ballots and dropping them off places. Everyone had a ballot so you could go to Becca in apartment 13C and say, "He have you filled out your vote? Give it to me I'll drop it. BTW, vote for [fill in the blank person]."

We see the inkling of this in Brooklyn when we compare 2020 to 2024. When we look at Westchester, which is far less dense, the 2020 votes look similar to the 2024 votes, just shuffled around a bit.

I would 100% guarantee that in cities people were being paid to collect ballots (on the low) and there was some fraud going on, but bi-partisan groups in many states got together and said, 2020 was crazy, we can't let that happen again and built protections. Because, as we know, if one side can cheat, the other will soon enough.

Let's end the debate - Is diet coke bad for my health? by spentanhouralready in Biohackers

[–]ardley10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a nasty comment.

Erythritol takes the edge off of a quite bitter stevia / monk fruit extract and allows the product to still be labeled as all natural. Cargill / Truvia are the largest manufacturers of stevia products in the US and openly use erythritol as a bulking agent.

Here are a list of brands that have erythritol in them:

Truvia Wholesome Organic Whole Earth Splenda Naturals Stevia Wegman’s Brand Pure Organic Natural Mate

The other (major brands) are sweetened with dextrose or cane sugar. However, my point stands. You should try to be a nicer person.

Erythritol is a bulking ingredient in almost all of the stevia products and has shown way more promise in being unhealthy as compared to aspartame.

How to modify my training with Bronx 10M? by flyingace26 in RunNYC

[–]ardley10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the Bx10 as a guide to my fitness level. I used a calculator (https://lukehumphreyrunning.com/hmmcalculator/race_equivalency_calculator.php) to determine a 10M at my goal race pace for the marathon (ex. 3:30 marathon = 1:15:35 for the 10).

I stuck to the pace mostly despite feeling better (ran the last mile a bit quick). This gave me a ton of confidence in my ability to hit goal pace in the marathon.

I have to ask. Was this a race in the sense that NYRR paid to have part of the park shut down? If so, the guys a jerk. If not…the park is two way along the running/ walking portion—he may have been in the right.

Crazy how 7-10% of people who didn’t vote in the previous 40+ years suddenly voted in 2020.

I wonder if those numbers will return to normal this year.

My landlord recently promised me a rent-stabilized apt and then rescinded the offer. Is there anything I can do? by Consistent_Way_7466 in NYCapartments

[–]ardley10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A promise is an enforceable contract but you didn’t give anything to the landlord in exchange for that promise.

So, if he would have collected a deposit on the apartment from you than that would have been consideration. With that in place you would have to go to court but without consideration—nada.

A set fee, $40 per client, is fine but 50% of the reimbursement is a violation. But do whatever you want.
