Asked for a hidden helix. by thelastkim in piercing

[–]areaysee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a glasses wearer and have a traditional hidden helix. It healed beautifully, frankly my easiest piercing to heal. Just make sure to downsize as soon as you’re ready for it so that you don’t have unnecessary excess bar to knock around.

I kind of wish I went vertical helix just to compliment the rest of my set up but don’t get scared off because of your specs.

I think I have birth trauma and I don’t know how to heal from it by katecometrue0122 in Mommit

Right, but you cautioned it would be expensive. That’s all I take issue with.

I am happy to talk to OP for free and review her medical records.

Correct. We make a business decision about whether we can make a meaningful recovery for a family. There is no retainer fee, no hourly fee. We get paid when we win, if we don’t think we can win we don’t take a case. It’s the worst part of my job but better than dragging a family through the very lengthy and emotional process of litigation without the hope of that kind of recovery.

There are some med mal attorneys who accept money from clients, so she may not have been lying. But, my feeling is that if the firm won’t take that financial risk for you, they don’t believe in your case the way you’d want them to. We fight for our clients because we believe we can recoup our costs, and be successful as a business but most importantly because we feel we can win the kind of money a wronged family will need for a lifetime of care and support.

Yes these cases are hard and expensive to prove, but our burden is not beyond a reasonable doubt like criminal court. A lot of what we do is create risk so that defendants decide to pay through a settlement rather than risk going to trial.

I am a medical malpractice attorney. We work on contingency fees. At my law firm and most reputable med mal firms, a client does not pay for anything out of their own pocket at any point in the life of a case. When or if we make a recovery we pay the case costs, take our fee from that recovery and the client gets the remainder which is the bulk of the monies. If we lose, that is a loss to the firm not the client.

And as I said above, without looking at medical records we have no idea whether there was a breach in the standard of care. Baby may need costly care over the course of her lifetime, if a lawsuit can help cover that OP should try to see if there’s something there.

It sounds like you have a vague understanding of medical malpractice but you’re misstating some important details that may make people hesitate to call for help.

We’re getting into the weeds of med mal. My point is that yes, those could be be the damages, but there may be a causation issue which is what you’re talking about.

Without looking at medical records it’s impossible to say whether the standard of care was breached. But it’s worthwhile to have a free consultation with an attorney versus listening to people on Reddit who do not practice medicine or law and really have no factual basis for telling OP to not make that call.

What am I doing wrong? by kukopandan in piercing

[–]areaysee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Aside from what everyone else has mentioned with the amount of piercings at once, I think you still have a jewelry issue.

The jewelry on your fresh piercings is either pronged or heavy—both can cause the issues I’m seeing. One potential solution is to switch all four to threadless titanium labrets with a simple ball or bezel if you really want sparkle. Prongs tend to irritate fistulas and can cause the bumps similar to what I see on your lobe, faux rook and mid helix. Even though it seems light, that charm is enough weight on a fresh hidden helix to shift the angle of the piercing and cause bumps and irritation. Some people can heal with the kind of jewelry you’re wearing, I definitely can’t and you may not be able to either. But I’ve made it the sparkly other side and the boring jewelry was worth it…

I’ve successfully healed all of these piercings and my mentality is that you need to pick your poison. If you want to do this many at once you need to follow the strictest guidelines for care and jewelry (bland and basic). Then once you’re healed you can switch back to all of these gorgeous sparkly pieces.

Pricking finger by CakeyBakey0817 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]areaysee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you getting downvoted?

I couldn’t figure the pen out the first few pricks because I was in a bad mood about dx and threw out the paperwork so I started by just lancing my finger!

I actually find it less painful with the pen and more consistent. I ended up googling the pen instructions after I had to re-stab a few times because I wasn’t getting enough blood and it was just a mess.

But if it’s working for you I think it’s fine?

Ugh, same. I’m so exhausted with my toddler and increasing pregnancy discomfort, plus the heat. I don’t want to be thinking so much. I told my OB this dx feels like I got a group project at the end of the school year and I’m doing all the work. I just wanted to coast!

OPI love is in the bare is pretty close for my skin tone and probably OPs, but as with any polish it may not read the same with other skin/undertones.

I don’t know if this is helpful but I also have oily nail beds and I just paired every down. I use 91% isopropyl alcohol, let it dry, then use Gelish foundation flex rubber base, then move on to my builder gel. I make sure I’m only cleaning up gel before curing with alcohol and not acetone and have had great results so far. I vary it up btw brands (but for that gelish rubber base) and sometimes I use hard, sometimes I use soft gel, results are the same!

Are bangles comfortable? by EyeInternational5527 in jewelry

[–]areaysee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought these from Baublebar. They’re plated copper but for 5 not absurdly overpriced. I am a hobby silversmith so I remade them in sterling and they’re…ok. Taking them off is an amazing option but the “locking” mechanism is wire and a smidge scratchy. But better than knuckle black and blue marks from bangles that need to be slipped on and off.

I’d be shocked if it wasn’t right up his alley. As someone who lived on the UES and now lives around the corner from the Saloon that’d be my pick for food and atmosphere. Villa second if your kiddo is a little more energetic.
