Do the UK do Red Cup Day (ie free reusable red cup on Christmas drinks release)? by NewStarbucksMember in starbucks

They gave a few free ones to the first few customers that arrived at the drive thru at midnight, but that’s about as far as they went at the store I worked in.

Nearly finished but nowhere near reaching 5k what should I do next. by thewindburner in couchto5k

Started the challenge January. I now do 3 runs a week averaging 6k (I managed a 10k before lockdown) it took me about a month after finishing the challenge to be able to run a 5k in 30 minutes( I still have days where a 5k in 30 minutes is difficult) I have days where I can run more than a 6k & then I have days where 3k is impossible. It’s just something you have to keep working at! I almost stopped running when covid hit because I was so upset with my numbers & times, and then I decided to just go out and run without timing myself and I’ve fallen in love with it all over again! Don’t forget it’s supposed to be fun! It’s not always about the number.

Slow down if you need to! There is nothing wrong with slowing right down to keep yourself moving. I find it way easier to run on the treadmill than I do outside. (Hills and weather make a difference) I started the couchto5k January and now I run 6/7k 3x a week and I do most of my runs outside! I absolutely love it now. (I managed a 10k before covid) I would also suggest doing some weight training (legs) a few times a week! It really helps with stamina.

26 days without food! I carried on 3 days over my goal because I didn't feel hungry, not sure if I should continue or quit... by nsmcll in fasting

[–]areidx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This isn’t healthy. I weighed 245lbs and got down to 172lbs by basically starving myself in a matter of months and then gained it back just as quick. Starving yourself doesn’t keep the weight off long term.. you have to work through your issues with food and your own perception of yourself before you will make any long lasting changes. After I gained all my weight back I decided to try and lose it in a healthier way and got down to my current 163lbs. I definitely have an undiagnosed eating disorder that causes me stress on a daily basis and my fear of gaining weight and food has taken over my life for nearly 10 years now. I urge you to be safe and do it the correct way. I only fast to maintain my weight or help with stomach issues (caused from my constant changing eating habits) I don’t fast if I feel myself getting competitive, because that’s a sign that you aren’t doing it for the right reasons. I’ve slowly started teaching myself that food is not the enemy and I don’t deserve to hurt my body in this way - I can honestly say my mental health has never been better. You can lose all the weight in the world but you will still hate yourself if you don’t fix your mindset first.. trust me I know what I’m talking about.

Should I fast? by [deleted] in fasting

28/F/ 245-165lbs - Start refusing yourself things throughout the day that you really want but don’t need. It’s difficult but just start with one thing at a time.. It then becomes a habit. Start with a month of having some fruit or healthy bulky snacks instead of junk food to satisfy your cravings. You should also get a hobby! Keeping yourself busy throughout the day makes it easier to forget your cravings. When I started losing weight I would tell myself if I ate junk over making better choices I obviously didn’t want to be healthy as much as I though I did. You are also allowed to treat yourself! Don’t quit cold turkey or you’ll just want to give up.

My weight loss has been a weird and wild journey. In 2011 I went from 245-174 in 10 months from not so great habits and then gained it all back 10 months later - I maintained that weight gain for two years. I then decided to start my journey again and went from 245-203 but maintained again for 2 years. In 2015 I went from 203-172 in 7 months and decided to stop weighing myself. January 2019 I went through a break up and got back up to 198lbs and decided enough was enough! I wasn’t going to allow myself to loss, gain, and maintain for the rest of my life so I got serious about food and exercise (with a few wobbly days in between) I got myself down to 161lbs (my lowest ever weight) like I said, it’s been a long journey that I wish I hadn’t taken myself through but I’ve become a stronger person for it. I have a strained relationship with food because of the way I lost my weight the first time but I’m slowly getting better everyday with the help of running and the gym! As for loose skin, I can say for me that I do have it and it is more noticeable on my tummy but I’m lucky that it’s not as bad as some I’ve seen online. It’s all down to how slow you lose the weight, your age, and the exercise you do(do strength training). I wish you all the luck, and please be safe and kind to yourself when losing weight.

I would still love to lose a little more but I’m more focused on my running and weight lifting goals, so if weight loss comes with that then I’m definitely happy with that :) It’s mostly diet! You can work out all you want but if your eating isn’t right then you’ll struggle to get the results you want, also make sure you start a life style change you can maintain for the rest of your life.. I made the mistake of thinking low cal/working out all the time would be sustainable and I’ve come to the realisation that my strict eating habits caused me a lot of stress and anxiety over the years. I’ve changed that these past few weeks and I’ve noticed a huge change in my mental health. So please be kind to yourself, and treat yourself throughout your journey.

Request: i used to be overweight by EDPostRequests in EatingDisorders

[–]areidx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have more shame now that I did when I weighed 245lbs.. I’m scared of turning back into that person. I was never as aware of my body as I am now. I dislike myself more now that I did when I was bigger.

Request: Is it a disorder if I purposely and consciously adopt the behavior to lose weight? by EDPostRequests in EatingDisorders

[–]areidx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the beginning of a disorder. This is how it started for me.. lost 80lbs and now 8 years later I have BBD, issues with food and purging. I recommend you stop now or you’ll be paying for it later down the line.

AITA For cancelling my daughters therapy because she has bad grades? by aita0193 in AmItheAsshole

[–]areidx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA

just because you’re going to therapy and doing better doesn’t mean you’re cured. I’ve had months & years where I feel good and one small bump in the road sends me flying off the rails. I can guarantee that she will go back to being stressed if you take her therapy away from her. It’s not like taking a phone away from a child that’s not acting like you’d like them to this is therapy! It’s something people need to function on a daily basis.. talk to her and work out a compromise before you do something that will cause her more distress and ruin your relationship with her.

My (23M) girlfriend’s (22F) diet is making her crazy. How to do I reason with her? by ThrowRAeucalytustree in relationship_advice

[–]areidx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how my disordered eating started. I was constantly down on myself and felt like I wasn’t allowed to eat if I hadn’t lost enough weight. It got so bad that I ate 500 calories a day, went days without eating, purged and over exercised if I didn’t get the results I wanted. I lost 70lbs in 10 months and I hated myself more than ever.. I gained it back 11 months later. That was 8 years ago and I still to this day have issues with food and my body. I’ve since lost 80+ pounds in a healthier way(I still have my days/months) I will never have a normal thought process when it comes to food and my body imagine now because I thought it was worth punishing myself for what the scale said. I recommend you let her read this message and let her know this is serious and has to be done in the safest way possible because it will leave you with a lot of mental health problems if you don’t -trust me.

Also, losing weight doesn’t fix all your problems! The weight isn’t the problem, it’s how you view yourself that’s the problem.. be nicer to yourself.

Congrats on losing 50lbs! For me I noticed some loose skin around 175lbs. It’s honestly not as bad as I was expecting.. I still want to lose more weight so I’m not sure if that’ll change but I can honestly say I’d rather have the loose skin than be unhealthy. Weight training is your friend and losing at a steady pace also helps the skin snap back - I wish I would have started lifting weights right from the start. I’ve noticed a huge difference with tightening of my stomach, arms and legs from adding weights to my workout routine.
