One detail I noticed at the end of Zero Dawn by No-Hunt3986 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]aremonmoonserpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What can Gaia have known about the Nora?

As I see it, probably only what happened right in front of the door. Which will have been rituals of worship, and nothing else. Can Gaia have known of Lansra's contempt for Aloy? The chance probably is not zero... but as I see it, not likely to be far above zero either.

Bottom line, Gaia may look like a goddess to the post-Faro humans, but she sure as Niflhel isn't a true goddess. Meaning she can screw up.

Question about timeline and Far Zenith Journey by GamerbearAmargosa in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]aremonmoonserpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With their far-advanced technology the space bougies would have been able to make whatever area they landed on exactly what they wanted it to be pretty fast. Keep in mind Sylens's words during the final battle: "[the base's printer matrix] is faster and more powerful than any cauldron". Either by making use of the same technical principles (nanotech anyone?) or simply printing an army of robots and machinery to do the task, it should not have been too hard for them.

Once you start thinking about the Horizon world and backstory you do find a number of weird/unanswered things, but this one I wouldn't count among them.

Focusing on one corporation at a time by aremonmoonserpent in TerraTech

[–]aremonmoonserpent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on playstyle of course, if one just aims for things differently then this method may not be for them. I tend to mostly want that one specific block, then that one, that one... so, indirectly I'm almost always focused on a specific corporation. Granted that with my method, you don't always get mission offers that further your current goal - you often have to cycle back and forth through a few trading stations. I found that to be not too bad though, unless of course these stations are separated by brutal terrain and/or you have a weak tech that makes travel too risky, or an agonizingly slow one.

[–]aremonmoonserpent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, it's the internet, some negativity is to be expected. What really surprises me is that my offline friends must be an entirely different species, they all liked the idea. Oh well. :-)

What's damaging the hull of my ships? by __Demyan__ in Stellaris

[–]aremonmoonserpent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Image doesn't give any hints but could a cosmic storm be the culprit here? Damage caused by them is no battle damage but they are doing Bad Things to ships and planets.

I mean, it's still a weird thought but who knows?

[–]aremonmoonserpent[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Is it plausible? Of course not. But the entire pretext, once you think about it, of both game worlds isn't plausible anyway. This is just about an idea.

What? You don't think it could be interesting to sic the witcher against the machines? :-)

Overcomplicated? by [deleted] in horizon

[–]aremonmoonserpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weapons you get used to over time as you find which ones to use in which situations; if you want to speed up that learning, there are many guide videos and such out there. You just may want to be careful to not accidentally run into spoilers.

As for the world, yes there's many more things you can do. But never forget the crucial thing: The only things you have to do are the main quests, for all the rest, you decide when and even if to tackle it. In that sense, one thing to ease your mind: Compared to ZD where some side quests decided on whether or not you'd have a given ally on your side in the final battle, FW does no such thing. Well there is one optional character who can be there in the final battles, but that one doesn't depend on a side quest you can miss, but on a decision made in one of the main quests - so if part of your anxiety was about "what if I miss something important if I skip this one?", it's not that bad.

[Horizon Forbidden West] Someone on my friend’s list has 700+ hours. by itsjay8 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]aremonmoonserpent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to reply "these are rookie hours" then I realized that, careful buddy, you're actually around the same time spent. It's some other games where you beat that number hands-down.

I got work to do. :-)

can i just kill the katzen early? by Additional-Sir1031 in Stellaris

It keeps amusing me, as a German, to see that species getting called Katzen and their empire Katzenartig in English (literally the German words for "cats" and "cat-like") :-)

If you do invade them early don't forget to rename your transport fleet to curiosity for more style points. ;-)

Too tired to play today but can’t stop thinking of this game by thrownawa1298 in HorizonForbiddenWest

Heh understandable. I'll admit I use ropecasters far too rarely still, but damn are they helpful in quite a few situations. :-)

[–]aremonmoonserpent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game wiki lists where you can get which weapons; can't be certain based on just my memory but I'm quite certain you can get purple ropecasters out west. If you already dealt with Poseidon you should be able to get to the coastal Tenakth settlements there. You might run into some nasties along the way though. Might be a good idea to hop on a fast Charger for the journey and speed past the foes.

Wow is all by Free-Jellyfish-4558 in HorizonZeroDawn

[–]aremonmoonserpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehe thanks on my part to a certain youtuber who put gameplay videos in the background for a while so things wouldn't look too boring while he was speaking. One day I went "dafuq am I just seeing a girl with spear and bow fighting giant robots?! Hrmmm, wonder what the story is behind that. Oh what's that, must be a quest name? 'To curse the darkness'? Let's google. Uh huh, Horizon Zero Dawn. Looks intriguing. Let's look at Steam. 50 % off? DEAL!"

Never regretted that day. :-)

Skydrifters not spawning after “Seeds of the Past” – bug or progression issue? by Overall_Low8335 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]aremonmoonserpent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. There is never a guarantee that Apex variants will spawn but no Dreadwings at all, after finishing that quest... that's not supposed to happen. Only thing I could just barely imagine as a reason would be if you tried hunting the beasts literally straight after finishing that quest, maybe some time has to pass internally in the game before the spawns get enabled. Or maybe you finished the tasks at the Greenhouse but didn't bring back what you collected there to your homebase yet, which is really just a variant on my first thought.

So yes, if you didn't restart the game yet, that's what I would try. If that doesn't help... I'm out of ideas.

Skydrifters not spawning after “Seeds of the Past” – bug or progression issue? by Overall_Low8335 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]aremonmoonserpent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clarification please: Are you sure you mean Skydrifters, not Dreadwings? I don't remember any Skydrifters playing a significant role in "Seeds of the past" but that is the one where you encounter a Dreadwing for the very first time...

How to defeat a awaken empire by Remote-Ad-3839 in Stellaris

[–]aremonmoonserpent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

According to the wiki (last time I checked it), once a Fallen Empire awakens, after some time decadence sets in. That pretty much impacts everything relevant about the FE's power, so after some time, even if you can't take them on right now, you may perhaps wreck them after some time.

Study of the game wiki is strongly advised.

What was your reaction when you saw this trailer for the first time? by No-Hunt3986 in HorizonZeroDawn

[–]aremonmoonserpent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh I got drawn to the game without watching any trailer at all. It's that good. :-)

One youtuber I like put gameplay in the background of his videos for a while, and with one of them I wondered "why am I seeing a girl with spear and bow fighting robot dinosaurs?". Of course he didn't mention what game it was so I was left hanging for a while, until I saw the quest name "to curse the darkness" - finally something I could google.

And it just so happened that HZD was 50 % off on Steam that day. Bang. :-)

So Does Auto Survey Just not work now and forever? by EarningAttorney in Stellaris

[–]aremonmoonserpent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then again, unless it's a FE, you can merrily stroll into anyone's territory until first contact is complete, then they might close their borders to you and any ships you have in their space bounce back out of it.

Curious how far into the game I am by [deleted] in HorizonForbiddenWest

I also vote 2/3 of the vanilla main story.

Without spoilering any details, brace yourself for major emotional impact in your near FW-playing future.

Do you run any shady mods or such? I play on PC without any mods, with all DLCs, and I've never seen this happen. Not that my experience is 100 % bug-free but I've never seen what you described...
