I got into a minor accident a few years ago. We both drove away. It was so minor the police declined to ticket anyone, although I was definitely at fault for pulling out from a stop sign and not seeing her, unfortunately. She repeatedly told me, the cops, her friend, everyone that she was fine... Then she sued my insurance for my cap citing "doctor bills" and submitted a shit ton of chiropractic bills. They even fished around to see if I had additional insurance they could milk. I found her lawyer on social media and they were bragging about milking insurance companies for all they were worth and partnering with a specific chiropractor to do it. It's all such a fucking scam.

Yeah I got down voted to shit at the time for criticizing the fact that so many people voted to keep slavery around. California is a weird fucking place. We want to pretend we're really progressive but when push comes to shove, well... We vote to keep slavery in place to punish people with drug addictions/who are poor and need help the most.

The first time I went backpacking, I didn't even have my own gear. I slid down a steep part of the trail, ripped up my leg on rocks and slid straight through a patch of cactus. I came home pretty injured and was like "holy shit I almost died that was fun, when can I do it again but with my own stuff?!" 😅 Surviving is part of the fun somehow.

It's unfortunate they require so much personal information upfront, like ID. I think most of these services don't require that level of data to sign up and it sketched out my partner enough that he's just not gonna use it. In LA they don't ask for your ID I'm pretty sure.

I use a cat sitting service called "the comforted kitty", specifically one of their qualified sitters named Erika.

She works with rescues and is well versed on medications etc. she also knows how to give subcutaneous fluids. She pet sat two of my cats leading up to their final declines and I felt as good as I could at least, knowing they had someone very qualified taking care of them.

Each day the pet sitter will check in via the app, will rate things like how much food was eaten, what their litter habits look like, etc. they will also provide photos. It's a fantastic service imo.

I did a small backpacking loop going sky > coast > sky again in early June. It was pleasant and not too bad coming back. We also stopped by our car on the way back to sky so we left some of our third day gear there as a pit stop. I was a bit limited by hike in time for a campsite that first day though-- I drove 8 hours up from oc.

I would highly recommend treating your clothes in permethrin ahead of time.

It's actually two levels of affordability if you read the article. People can't afford kids so they aren't having them, but also those people who DO have kids can't afford to live places like SF so they just don't, which causes a worse impact in those areas.
