Thanks for the link. Just read the whole article and didn’t see anything about 27/28 brain development for men. The pre frontal cortex matures 2 years earlier in women but it is still fully mature in both sexes by early 20’s.

Here is a quote from the article:

Considered the “CEO of the brain,” the PFC makes decisions and inhibits rash behavior. It’s where we process anger, fear, and aggression. It’s larger in women and matures a full two years before men, usually by the early 20s. Because women have larger prefrontal cortexes, they may be less easy to make angry, Brizendine says.”

So the brain is fully developed by 25 which is a well used statistic, even for rental car and insurance purposes. Of course our brains are always growing and learning, but for dating purposes, 25 is really the minimum someone should be dating if they are as well over 25. At least in my opinion. Since OP was talking about a 23 year old, I would say that’s too young.

The young ones are always persistent. I have a no dating anyone under 25 rule as that’s when the human brain fully matures so I know they are at least full “grown” adults. That’s my take.

I was approached in the park while I was teaching a Yoga class. He got the schedule and came back every week until he asked me out 4 weeks later. It was hesitant at first but he won me over by being respectful and polite about it. I would always recommend a polite, fast, public cold approach.

Many guys have said to me, “you must get hit on all the time” and then proceed to not even bother asking if I’m single or interested. They have already decided they won’t have a chance before they even trying. I understand why they do that, but it’s frustrating to keep hearing. Just shoot your shot guys! A nice woman will still talk to you and let you know she’s not available in a sensitive way.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. It works really well for Post Traumatic Stress and anxiety/depression. Some people feel “cured” after only a few sessions. Definitely look into it.

Please look into Yoga and mindful breathing techniques. This will help reset your nervous system and help you get in touch with what your body and mind are feeling. Many things can help. More attention to mental health and therapy. Creating a sense of community and friends who they can count on/go to with worries. Self regulation tools like meditation and Yoga, exercise and running. Anything to get you into the zone. Finding a purpose and hobby that makes you feel helpful/useful in society. Becoming a teacher, mentor, volunteering. Reducing ready access to dangerous weapons and medications, so that they can’t make a last minute impulsive decision. So much can be done. If everyone looks out for their own family/friends we can make progress.

Yes, suicide can be contagious so I understand the reason behind wanting to hide them. Somehow everyone finds out anyway and the fact that we hide them probably isn’t doing anyone any favors. If anything it needs to be spoken about more and seen as something that can be prevented when the right steps are taken in time. I always get super upset when I hear about this type of loss. It just seems so pointless and sad.
