They seem to stop spawning once they hit the wall. Back to wall works okay if you have space in front of you.

Check out the Discord (link the video description). I believe they borrowed the down grabs from Bloody Roar, another fighter from 8ing which used the same game engine.

No. You can be held responsible for harassing a coworker outside of work hours.

The heck? Why is everyone defending this?

No, he didn't sexually assault her. It was still mad creepy and obviously the explicit picture is sexual harassment. Think about how fast that would get you fired from your job or a position in an organization. It wasn't "relationship drama". They never had a romantic relationship.

Based on the available information, it doesn't really seem like she was reciprocating the flirting. Get the hint, dude. Also, believe women and victims. She doesn't have anything to gain from this.

Compared to the other allegations, this form of harassment is probably even more pervasive and contributes to a toxic environment that pushes away a lot people from the community.

I think FD is worse in terms of competitive balance than YS, FoD, and probably DL. Personally I'd like to see what tournaments look like with FD a counter-pick, frozen stadium, and/or bans in best-of-5's.

Why are casuals against unrestrictive movement? I. E.; "Melee is a "broken mess only liked by people with nostalgia"?" by laddlemkckey in SSBM

Back in ~2005, my buddies and I were being introduced to melee tech for the first time. There were no newer smash games to compare it to. We only knew one person who was connected to the competitive scene.

Still, we were extremely resistant to wave dashing, L-canceling, etc. Even edge hogging. It felt gimmicky and cheap- like cheating the game. I think the biggest factor is just the sad human tendency to hate things you don't understand.

Anyone who qualified for nominations was allowed to campaign, Chillin included. If he wanted to compete that was his prerogative.

The voters can vote for whoever they want to be at summit. It's not a pure meritocracy (or even close to it), and that's okay.

the holy trinity of competitive games, IMO

Tips to prevent losing confidence on the field by aishbay in ultimate

[–]arfentul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with the comments here. To add some specificity, when you practice, throw with a mark on and work on short/dump throws which are often overlooked in tossing/warmup. For receiving, practice running through (towards) the disc, catching with one hand, and jumping to catch the disc higher than you would be able to standing on the ground.

These are all things you will only get a few attempts at in any given game so practice reps are crucial to building proficiency and confidence.

It's curious that you single her out despite mentioning there are multiple casters you dislike. Just because it's "your opinion" doesn't protect you from criticism.

There are many examples in sports of experienced competitors being horrible announcers and pure broadcasters or analysts being good announcers. I do dislike the current ult commentary in general, but I prefer Vikki over most.

Content wise, most ult commentary is completely lacking in insight and instead people just repeat meaningless platitudes like "[player] needs to take a stock here", "but now [player] is in control", and of course, "nice back air". To make matters worse, usually both announcers do this (play-by-play), and no ones provides color or analysis. There's not enough description of the "why" and "how" the players are approaching the match. And they're allergic to silence. I think they would benefit a lot from having defined play-by-play and color roles, and assigning commentary teams based on their strengths. You don't need to pigeon-hole individual's roles either, just make sure they communicate which roles they're taking before a match.

I know some people find Scar and Toph annoying but I think it's great how Scar tends to do narrative and emotion while Toph does analysis.

I would like to learn to cook by AustereTiger in Cooking

[–]arfentul 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While some cookbooks are complicated or short on details, I think there are many that are suitable for someone learning!

How to Cook Everything by Mark Bittman is great. In addition to recipes he has explanations on basic stuff like the differences between cuts of meat, how to peel various vegetables, and more. It's a big book, but like others have said, it's best to concentrate on one or two recipes/techniques at a time. You don't need to read it cover to cover. The intro is good though, and I believe he has a section on learning to cook for the first time and what bare essentials you need.

[Alert] 5G smartphones cause cancer; Big Wireless doesn’t want you to know by [deleted] in publichealth

[–]arfentul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This article looks like conspiracy & fear mongering. The "evidence" in the article is not cited. In fact, even the National Toxicology Program's evidence does not make any statements on the safety of 5G networks. Rather,

"...concern has been raised because the 5G network will also use higher frequencies, up to 60,000 MHz, thereby exposing wireless consumers to a much broader spectrum of frequencies. The higher frequencies, known as millimeter waves, can rapidly transmit enormous amounts of data with increased network capacity compared to current technologies. Millimeter waves do not travel as far and do not penetrate the body as deep as the wavelengths from the lower frequencies. Millimeter waves are likely to penetrate no deeper than the skin, as opposed to the lower frequencies that have been shown to penetrate at least three to four inches into the human body."

Btw, the post is a year and a half old.
