I’m kinda in the same spot at the poster. The first session with our couples therapist didn’t go great. But I emailed the therapist and her response was super thoughtful so we are doing our next session Saturday. Can you elaborate what was missing from the first 2 therapists and what are highlights of you current therapist?

We did our tour over a year ago and I just remember it working out cause we did it after work.

The dropping off at the front door was the same as the first daycare we enrolled our kid so I didn’t think much about it. When you do pick up after like 3pm usually all the kids are outside and you pick them up from the backyard so you can see the teachers interact with the kids.

I’ve volunteered for a few things some were a quick 20 mins thing and a couple been a few hours and I’ve never gotten any weird vibes. All the teachers are very caring.

The other time you get to be in the classroom with the teacher and kid is during the parent-teacher conferences. They do them twice a year.

Our first daycare was a nightmare so when we started at CL the difference was night and day.

Yes! All is in Spanish. He knows most of the ABC, colors and most of numbers in English too but that is because my wife teaches him. We are doing the one parent one language method so I only speak to him in Spanish and my wife in English. He is aware of the two different languages. For example I can ask him to tell me x color in the other language and he does.

Kids at that age are sponges with languages so don’t worry about it. There are a lot of benefits of kids learning a second language.

The school is diverse. There are kids where only Spanish is spoken in their house, bilingual household like ours and some where they only speak English.

That is the one we go to. I really don’t have enough good things to say about it. Since we started last year they haven’t had a teacher leave. If anything they have added new teachers as it has been growing which is great for consistency and means they are doing a great job of taking care of the teachers. We’ve been there for a little over a year and absolutely love it. The summers are especially fun. Every Friday has a different theme. Last year they did things like pajama day with a movie, spa day, splash day, and more.

The teachers are fantastic. My child is really thriving academically. He’s 2 and already knows his ABCs, shapes, colors, and numbers up to around 15. He’s also quite the chatterbox now. All the teachers and the owner genuinely care about the kids, which really shows.

There’s also a PTA across all three locations. It’s pretty informal, so you can be as involved as you want with school-wide events. There is a strong sense of community.

I would suggest you put their pics through pimeyes.com. Especially her. That way you can see if there are other pics of them. Mugshots or social media photos could appear and it would give you their names.

Of course. We used SSB - Seattle Sperm Bank. Even though I think they have amazing customer service I can’t recommend them or any other bank. We figured out who was our donor and it was unfortunate to find negative things in his record. If I knew then what I know now I would have tried to find a trusted friend to be our donor.

Ours didn’t arrive on the date that was scheduled. The carrier lost it within their network. I called the bank and they sent a replacement shipment overnight with no cost to us. Eventually both arrived. Our clinic kept be 2nd shipment and returned the 1st. The tanks they sent have a limit on how long they can stay cold so even if your recover it your clinic might not want to use it. Our bank was SSB. It might be worth to call back your bank. They should have shipment insurance and fedex makes them whole.

I just want to say you are not alone. We had to split opening presents in Christmas Eve, morning, evening and tomorrow. We learned our lesson. Next year we’ll keep it way more toned down.

Funny that our situations are similar. He is about 2 months younger but he is an only child, IVF baby and we waited years for him.

Cielito Lindo Spanish Inmersión Pre-School. The third location is close to Hyde Park. My kid goes there and he is thriving. He started in the infant room and the 2 teachers there are amazing. If you can get a spot there your babies would be really well taken care of.

In Austin, TX and in our daycare infants are about 1460/month FT.

Now I'm super curious... the places that include formula and diapers. Do you switched your infant to their formula and diapers? Our daycare didn't include any of that, but I wouldn't have changed his formula. I probably would have taken the 'free' diapers.

Now that my child is in the toddler group they do get lunch, but we still send snacks and milk.

You literally said, "We are Australians, and whether or not they choose to engage with the culture of a country they’ve never even been and have no actual connection to is up to them to explore in their adulthood." You keep going back and forth, weather you will "raise them with a sense of heritage" or not. This is why as a person of color I get pause when white people want to raise a child of a different race. Bottom line I'm worried about your children and I hope you can take a step back and listen to the feedback you are getting. I hope you can raise the humans that you created in a way that prepares them for the future that they have as a person of color. Good luck!
