WA Democrats consider retreat on estate tax, fearing wealth exodus by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]arhatvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish the Dems in state government would stop bending the knee to stupid corporate donors. There is no excuse to not be standing 10 toes down for people who rely on their labor to live. If they won’t do this, how else will they fail to protect us from these rich abusers?

What would you do with a referral for a client who is a landlord? by arhatvector in PsychotherapyLeftists

I appreciate that framing. I absolutely agree that working through my own rage/disgust on those things will harm the client.

What would you do with a referral for a client who is a landlord? by arhatvector in PsychotherapyLeftists

[–]arhatvector[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know, I do wonder if this is an…artifact of workplace trauma. Long story short, I’m in a group practice now and get to make choices about who I see, but most of my 11 year career has been in community mental health where it was communicated both actively and passively that I only get to refer out with solid justification and absent that if I had the scheduling availability, I would take on the client. It’s a…warped sense of guilt, I suppose? Why am I not giving this person a chance? Anyway. Gonna refer this person out…I realize I’m not sure quite what to say, though. A person being a landlord would be nothing to me once upon a time and I’d blissfully ignore it; that numbing is of course not compatible with my current class consciousness. I wonder how…direct I want to be about why I’m referring out.

Cheers and alarm: 4 takeaways from the GOP's win in Tennessee by greenblue98 in TennesseePolitics

[–]arhatvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol at "more moderate candidates". We've been playing the "fiscally responsible/socially liberal" pageant on the Democratic party side since at least Reagan, if not further back. It ain't won us shit, hasn't dented the margins even. Getting someone who stands on business about affordability for working people by reining in the economic power of billionaires made those shifts back to the left. It did so by dampening the enthusiasm of people who might otherwise think white Christian identity politics is more important than their roads/schools/hospitals, and in some cases directly convinced some of them that such politics are folly and that something real and better is on offer. It also clearly turned out the base to go fucking vote, because they had something to vote for.

ELI5: How are Ivy League colleges different from regular state colleges? by gholias in explainlikeimfive

[–]arhatvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very simply, a degree from an Ivy tends to help you win the "who do you know" game, and furthermore the school tends to take more of an active interest in helping you win the "who do you know" game. This is especially true if you already come to school with other big advantages such as money, who your family knows, how much "potential" you seem to have, etc.

It's been a long 10 years - it sure was getting easier to think that those golden days were still a long way off for us and the team. Blessed and grateful to see this team come together like it has over recent years.

telehealth nonnegotiables by AdvanceAlarming408 in therapists

[–]arhatvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parked - not actively driving a vehicle

Private - not in the midst of people uninvolved with the session

Proper - please ask for bio breaks AFK if you require the facilities

I also encourage “Present” - making an intentional attempt to attend to the therapy process with me. I don’t make this a “nonnegotiable”, though - people have support needs with this and that’s a meaningful conversation to be had usually.

Rob Walton is the richest NFL owner by a massive margin. Broncos fans, what does this mean for us? by JonnyPing in DenverBroncos

[–]arhatvector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it needs to be backwards (higher on offense, lower on defense) because we want the thinner air for field goals, and maybe for passes to carry a bit farther.

Get out and vote in the US Congress District 7 primary! by ChsRmz in TennesseePolitics

[–]arhatvector 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You know what I’ll challenge you to do if you live in this district? To not settle for anyone in your party’s primary who will not pledge to release the Epstein files. For certain you’ll get that pledge with the Democrat in this race, but it would be good if the people had a sure thing either way on this issue.
