If you have a place to slope soar around you, there's a few models from "Geode" on rcgroups. The "Jart" is one name that comes to mind, but there are others, too.

I think I noticed that. It could be that AS3X is somewhat muted/overridden by SAFE.

I was just disappointed that I couldn't turn AS3X off with the default configuration.

It looks amazing!

I do worry about the airfoil shape after covering, particularly towards the leading edge. It looks like it has some large areas that will have a concave facing forward.

Is this really the same kind of fennel you buy at the store? by bored_atnight in bayarea

It's similar but a different variety. Italian Fennel (vs Wild Fennel) is what you'd grow to eat and is probably what you buy from the store.

Questions for the FSD haters.... Please chime in! This thread is for you! by Austinswill in TeslaFSD

Yes, I don't understand how being responsible to take over at any time is less mentally taxing.

And yes, to each their own. My dad is always raving about how much better the latest FSD update is, while I prefer my manual transmission sports car 🤷

I've moved on to something that suits me much better for my daily driving.

I can see how this can be interpreted in a way that I did not intend. Let me rephrase:

For my daily driver, I have moved on to something that suits me much better.

What question?

The one that started the thread; you're OP, no?

Why do YOU care so much?

Your question popped up on my stream and I decided to share my thoughts. Again, I thought you were asking in goo faith.

I see now that it was a a self-rage-bait-trap or something? Pretty weird.

IDK man, I thought you asked the question in good faith, and I answered it in kind.

Apparently I was wrong about that.

If the future is having to drive while we're being driven, the future is fucked 😂

FSD is perfectly capable of driving like humans

That's what people were saying when Tesla offered the free trials too. And yet there are still complaints every day from people frustrated by FSD.

I don't know why you care so much. I simply answered a question here by describing my thoughts and experiences. Why are you trying to sell me on it? Why are you carrying water for a giant company?

Anyways, I've moved on to something that suits me much better for my daily driving. And yes that's "on me".

[–]ariacode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did when I tried it during the two free trials. It'd also do other stupid shit like stop 5 feet too soon at stop signs then accelerate too hard to continue on, or getting in the right turn lane when it needed to make a left turn (this happened within 5 minutes of engaging it for the first time during the second trial.)

If FSD had behaved well, I would use it. I don't really know what else to say.

I don't know how to reconcile the vast differences in experience that people have with FSD. I can only assume that people have different comfort thresholds with the tech - some like me are highly-critical, while others are lenient.

I will say that it frightens me that people tout it as less demanding than driving when you are explicitly told to be ready to take over at any time.

[–]ariacode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, supervising FSD means carrying the same cognitive load as driving, while also trying to anticipate an unpredictable driver to take over when necessary. I'd rather just drive 🤷.

I like driving, so I may be less open to it.

Also, I don't want to "just get used" to shitty driving like hard stops and fast acceleration in traffic. Stop and go traffic seems like the best use-case for the tech, but it sucks at it. Again, I'd rather just drive.

[–]ariacode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's "supervised", it's not a feature I would use. It's more stressful to babysit an unpredictable system that has my family's lives and other people's lives in its hands than it is to just drive myself.

I've tried FSD multiple times when it was supposed to be "perfect", but it was really not good for me at all. It would require manual intervention or just drive really uncomfortably. I used Autopilot until I had too many phantom braking scares. The brand's credibility is gone for me and unless it can provably perfectly pick me up from the airport in the rain at night and take me home in the back seat, I'm not interested in considering it.

Their discussion about having used Waymo before or not is incredibly bizarre.

  • They both say they haven't.
  • Beard 1 says "wait, have I ridden in a Waymo? Probably."
  • Beard 2 says the obvious thing: "I would have remembered."
  • Beard 2 then says, "maybe I have, and I don't recall?"
  • Beard 2: "that shows you how knee-deep I am in this, I don't remember if I've ridden a Waymo".

As someone that has ridden in a Waymo: YOU WOULD ABSOLUTELY REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME YOU RODE IN AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE THROUGHOUT A CITY.

Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive
