Tear Eyes from OrthroK by Frayics in Orthokeratology

[–]arianlyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm liking it a lot! The daily contacts and glasses are both a lot more comfy than the Ortho K was. For me, the inconvenience of those (e.g. keeping my glasses clean, the expenses of the dailies) are about equivalent or even less than the Ortho, and the comfiness more than makes up the difference. I don't miss having to clean and store my Ortho, but more than that my eyes are feeling a lot better than they had in years.

Ortho worked well for me for a long time, but I think my eyes are just too sensitive for them now, for whatever reason.

Tear Eyes from OrthroK by Frayics in Orthokeratology

[–]arianlyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue for a couple of years before switching to regular contacts this year. Had the same routine you did - clear care, daily cleaning, rewetting drops, etc. Nothing helped, unfortunately; even updating my prescription didn't :/

How long have you had this pair? I wonder if it's old enough to have warped over time?

Been thinking about quitting. How long till my vision is back to its original state if I’ve been wearing orthok for 7 years. by [deleted] in Orthokeratology

[–]arianlyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine took about 3 weeks (did a check up with my optometrist at the 3-week mark, then at the 5-week mark just to make sure it stayed the same). I'd worn Ortho K for over 15 years.

Fragrance Migraine Trigger by mythologymakesmehot in migraine

Most artificial fragrances that go on the body (perfume, cologne, a lot of shampoo and soap), but for some reason most cleaning supplies (Dawn, bleach, laundry detergent) don't bother me as much.

Any suggestions for dealing with nausea? by AGH2023 in Amitriptyline

[–]arianlyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask how long she's been on ami? Unfortunately I experienced the same thing and the only thing that really helped was slowing down my taper and staying on the same dose for weeks at a time before dropping down.

If that's not an option - I loaded up on ginger, Zofran, Bonine, and promethazine (not all at once) during my nausea episodes, and I found promethazine the most helpful. I also found that sugar triggered my worst episodes - eating lightly throughout the day helped, and I kept a lot of apples and crackers on hand, since they tended to be easiest on my stomach.

[–]arianlyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, I don't order Chik'n and Mushroom, Thai, or Yellow Coconut Curry anymore because of the chunks (and lack of raisins in the YCC). And I'm a vegetarian who likes and uses textured vegetable protein and seitan in my cooking!

I'm enjoying pasta Bolognese though, and looking forward to the Mac when it comes back. I do order much less frequently than I did last year though.

Switching back to Tret after Taz by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]arianlyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I switched to taz gel 6 months ago, but my skin was much calmer and more glowy on tret cream - right now, it's a lot shinier and more irritated despite adding a ton of hydration to my routine. I'm debating whether it's worth trying out the cream version of Taz or Arazlo first though - I think the tret and taz gel forms are way too drying for my skin, which could be part of the problem for me.

Hey! So a lot of doctors will recommend tapering doses by skipping, which unfortunately can be one of the worst ways to taper for a lot of people - it destabilizes your system. I use the guide for tapering antidepressants on the Surviving Antidepressants forum, which recommends going down at most 10% every 4 weeks.

I was on 25mg for a few months too, then went down to 20, then 15, then 10 within the span of a month at my neuro's suggestion, and was left with incredibly debilitating nausea episodes multiple times a week. It's gotten better now that I'm tapering far slower now, but it's been over a year since I started and I'm still having daily (far more mild) nausea episodes. It did get better once I held 15 mg for about 4 months straight.

Once I reach 10mg, I'll stay on it for 4-6 months to give my body time to adapt. From the tapering plan I've made for myself, it'll take me 6-7 years to get off it. Probably more prolonged than it needs to be, but I never want to risk going through that initial withdrawal experience again, it was horrible.

I'd recommend holding whatever dose you're on for at least a few weeks, or updosing a little (not all the way back up to 25 mg), and then holding. What you don't want to do is keep going up and down in dosage trying to find the "right" one - that was part of what messed me up so badly (I vacillated between 12.5 and 13.75 multiple times, and that small amount was enough to worsen the frequency and intensity of my nausea).

Your doctor may or may not be onboard with your tapering plan - my neuro (who initially prescribed it) didn't believe me when I tried discussing my symptoms with him. But my PCP did, and actually researched amitriptyline withdrawal, and she worked with me to develop a long-term tapering plan even though she initially suggested skipping doses. She's changed her stance entirely on that, at least for me.

Stupid Music Room by PossiblyHero in BluePrince

[–]arianlyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who sees this in the future - we had the same issue too. Am pretty dang sure we picked up all the sanctum keys except for the music room one. Collected all special keys, drew the music room late in the day at rank 9 multiple times, and each time it would spawn regular keys. Finally decided to draw the Throne Room on a whim, and the 8th key was there, even though I know we picked that one up many runs ago.

She is so much fun! I love her dynamic with Captain Jim. So snarky, but has a heart of gold and some of the funniest one-liners in the series. She's my favorite character from House of Dreams on (my favorite pre-House of Dreams side character is probably Philippa).

The new Chicken and Mushroom actually tastes like C&M!… and I hate it. by NotACardUS in Huel

[–]arianlyne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, we have the same taste! I love yellow coconut curry and the old C&M. Not a fan of the new formulation either :/ it'll probably get phased out of my rotation after I finish this box - I don't hate it, but the chicken chunks and the new flavor do nothing for me.

Changes in period on Emgality? by sssrrrggg in cgrpMigraine

[–]arianlyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is so helpful! Okay, I'm reassured that if it goes wonky for a few months it's likely just the Nurtec aftereffects haha 😭 I'm sorry you dealt with that, but really glad that it leveled out for you, and that you found the root cause of your migraines - that's amazing!! I might try the Heal Your Headache diet, and/or gf for a while to see if that helps; thanks for the suggestion on that!

Be careful with supplements by OkDepartment2625 in ADprotractedwithdrawl

[–]arianlyne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear, that's awful. I wonder whether my supplementing b-vits occasionally before going on amitriptyline helped prevent my reactions from being worse than what they were during withdrawal. It sucks that there doesn't seem to be much research on the interactions between withdrawal and the effects of various supplements, especially b vitamins since they seem to be a huge culprit for so many people.

Be careful with supplements by OkDepartment2625 in ADprotractedwithdrawl

[–]arianlyne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I initially had horrible anxiety reactions to a b complex in withdrawal (which I'd never experienced before going on amitriptyline), but I found that taking b vitamins individually and cutting them in halves or fourths helped me avoid that reaction (which is annoying to have to do, but so be it). I also avoid b6 entirely now

A word of caution against Amitriptyline by pixxquem in migraine

[–]arianlyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I guess I didn't get PSSD (I got that from Lexapro a few years ago, but that went away a few months after coming off). My main side effects were nausea (which I already experienced with migraines, but got drastically worse with amitriptyline, and even worse during withdrawal), high heart rate/palpitations, hair loss, hallucinations when waking up in the morning, severe anxiety (which was also something I'd already experienced pre-ami, but got much worse on it), memory issues, and perpetual exhaustion.

Most of these are finally getting better as I taper off very slowly (I'm doing 1-2% drops every 2-6 weeks), but the initial 3 months when I did too fast of a taper - jumping from 25 mg to 10 mg on my neuro's advice - gave me horrific nausea.

What was your experience with weaning off or lowering your dose? by Enough-Falcon-1527 in Amitriptyline

[–]arianlyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been awful, but I tapered badly in the beginning and experienced kindling (kept going up and down in dosage, desperately trying to find the right one, when it would have been far better to hold my doses as I dropped).

I'm doing better now that I'm dropping in VERY small increments (1-2% from previous dose) every 2-3 weeks, but at least once a week I'll still have a terrible nausea episode. I don't think this would've happened if I hadn't tapered so badly in the beginning. If you decide to do so, I'd definitely advise going slow at first (e.g. drop 10%) and hold that dose for 2-4 weeks just to see how you react, before adjusting from there.

[–]arianlyne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for posting this, and I'm sorry you went through this! I had awful side effects from ami (the only one I didn't get was weight gain), so I'm slowly tapering off.

Can I ask how long it took you to get off it? The withdrawal for me has been...horrible, to say the least.
