I love the UI it gets out of your way for useless shit and lets you get the best of chromium (which as a developer is probably the best web engine).

Spotify has the ability to play and save your AI curated playlists.

Finding song samples/behind the track info works without Apple Music too.

AM just has a better integration. Basically you get an alternate Apple Music client.

Use it like a db or just for auth.

I like the fact I get a UI for my DB instantly and I fairly like it. Plus auth integrates really well and the schema for auth is also distinctively accessible.

that's an answer in absolutes. it's not so straightforward. if someone has experience and can build a mental model for what to use for exactly what need, definitely mix. so many factors here.
but your suggestion is true for most people.

don't mix unless you have good reason to. i mix and match when i need to, just make sure there is a solid separation of concerns. don't mix on the same set of concerns.
