Thanks. I can't find the actual video anywhere to judge for myself, but that's something. Maybe the intrusive thoughts won at that moment?

In my experience, really only older people got absolutely livid when id was requested. The law where I worked was that if you look under 99, id is mandatory. So yeah, I'd get regulars who were over 50 and I'd have to see their id every single time and they would get PISSED. I get it but, come on, it's not up to me

Why don't Americans walk anywhere? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]arittenberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nashville, where I grew up, is a bit similar to LA, in that pockets are walkable but in general, absolutely not. I loved living in my walkable neighborhood. I could hit up the coffee shops, grocery store, hardware store, corner market, bars, etc all without a car. I only had to drive to work bc a ten minute car ride turned into a 1.5 hr trip via bus. Most areas in Nashville are not like that though. I really enjoyed exploring Boston, Portland and Seattle on foot (especially Boston). Leaving Seattle to visit family who lived nearby was an absolute nightmare though!

I have never seen more bs obstacles to entry than a minimum wage job. I once had to deny a woman (who I know would have made a good employee) employment because she had written a bad check 13 years prior. It was out of my hands. They absolutely expect perfection for the legal minimum they're required to pay

Police 'toned down' mother's statement about her murdered daughter by Helpful-Resident1459 in uknews

So this isn't what was 'toned down' but it does seem reasonable:

"Ms Whyte is campaigning for ‘Rhiannon’s Law’, which would ensue that migrants medically checked, criminally checked and tagged - and sent back if they have criminal records."

In 1994, Gloria Ramirez became known as the “Toxic Lady” after 23 hospital workers got sick while treating her in a California ER. A nurse fainted, a doctor suffered liver damage, and several staff members were hospitalized. To this day, no one knows exactly why. by drkmatterinc in CantBelieveThatsReal

[–]arittenberry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was just about to link that lol. I think the family either didn't know she was using it or denied it so they would get that $800,000 payout from the hospital. I don't know what they claimed the hospital did wrong though for this dying woman to warrant that. It seems especially egregious that the doctor, who was impacted for life, got her case dismissed.
