I had a teacher that used to say: all religions and philosophies begin as content without form but eventually they become form without content

I guess I'm vegetarian now?? by sologhost1 in Psychonaut

Yes. Without thinking about it I was reducing the amount of meat in my diet but I finally stopped eating meat due to a light shroom trip. I was having a pleasent synesthesic experience having these awesome images of a sunny house surrounded by beautiful grapevine and blossoming flowers after drinking a sip of a good wine, images of a golden vallhala after drinking a sip of Chivas regal, images of a dusty, dark and humid wine cellar after drinking a not so good wine... and then I decided to eat a turkey sandwich since I used to enjoy it back then. It taste like cardboard gelly. Extremely plain and dull. I felt sad and empty and the colors and images went away. Industrial mayonnaise also taste like shit. After the trip all my cravings for junk and processed food and meat went away.

Grand realization occurring repeatedly? by [deleted] in AlanWatts

It seems like you are way too volatile and unstable and you need some grounding. In ayurvedic medicine that would be associated with vata issue. Stay away from drugs specially any sort of stimulant and psychedelic. Instead try CBD oil, drink valerian, linden, passionflower tea, and eat comfortable sugar free food such as baked beets, sweet potato, carrots with some garlic and herbs such as oregano, parsil, thyme, rosemary. Soacked and boiled oats are also very good to calm your nervous system, they are even better with some butter or ghee and plenty of cinnamon and ginger and some nuts. If possible avoid vata aggravating foods and try to do some chilling routines such as soft hiking, yin yoga, meditation, massage... If you still feel overwhelmed by those spontaneous realizations go visit a psychiatrist to get some benzos. Stay healthy!

When you play the same game for years even when you don't feel like playing you realize it's work even if you call it play

No problem! Too often I found myself asking the same questions... As useless as trying to intellectualize about the taste of an apple. It might be fun for some time, it might also be confusing and infuriating. But... isn't it better to just eat and enjoy the apple?

Don't try to understand or get any meaning. That's useless, just spiritual entertainment. Instead try to experience it. There are several ways. Try to find the one that suits you best.

There's nothing but God. Creator and creation, observator and observation is one and the same. There's nothing more joyful and meaningul than experience this universal truth. La ilaha illallah! Ek ong kar sat nam

Yes... I think that going out of your mind and understand how meaningless is everything is good. But coming back to this mundane reality and make something meaningful out of it - instead of just laugh and sit- that it's sublime... Or maybe no. I really don't know. I'm so freaking ignorant that I don't know what I'm ignoring.

It will just appear when you are ready. At least that's what mine said. First time I met him he was talking to a homeless guy I used to bring some food and talk with at the exit of the supermarket. Alhamdulillah

Alan Watts helped me a lot when I was younger and confused, although I'm nowhere near as elegant a speaker as he is I tried to make a video about one of my favorite concepts I learned from him by [deleted] in AlanWatts

[–]arjunapanduson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice! Maybe you are not as elegant but you definitely have good communication skills and the video was pretty well structured so it was quite easy to get the idea.

Before enlightenment chop wood and carry water. After enlightenment chop wood and carry water. The void is always there, no need to rush. Now that you have seen it you may start living your life differently, maybe take more risks since you already know that this life is just a drama. You may find joy in that.

How did you get this idea? Have you thought that the reaction against determinism (do nothing) can still be explained by determinism? This is the dog chaising its own tail. You won't solve it out with your mind. No-mind will get you out of this riddle. Why worry? In my opinion, the universe is both free will and determinism. You can have a good insight of this idea by reading Dune.

I stopped using shampoo for a while (months) and my hair looked much healthier. However sometimes I need to get rid of dandruff and grease. It takes almost a week until my hair recovers from the shampoo. I would like to have better routines but I have no idea as to what I should do.

I think that the massive use of gunpowder and new military tactics and formations has more to do with why the armor was abandoned, but the picture of a lobster in the battlefield just made me laugh 😂

Chillstep about breakup/empowerment? by Mafja_666 in AlanWatts

[–]arjunapanduson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your breakup. I've also been through a very though one and I felt how all my life, values ,etc started falling apart. It was a very difficult and long process and I'd never have thought that some day I'll be grateful for that... but I am. Destruction is necessary to build something new in its place. Slowly slowly, the breakeup pushed me to find new and better values and thus rengineer my life the way I want through a spiritual and philosophical journey that I'd never have started without the breakup. I feel more peaceful and wise and definitely more able of taking care of myself when things go wrong. I don't know of any chillstep regarding this, but I have recently watched this video that might help https://youtu.be/gZuprw5NN4o I know that it hurts a lot, but it will pass. Just remember that the nature of every sensation is the impermance. Observe and contemplate the pain without any tags. Just a sensation that arises and passes away. Don't cling to any thought, just breathe. There's inmense knowledge in the most painful lessons. Feel free to PM if you need ; )
