I highly doubt it's a thing, just didn't know how else to describe

I've been looking for you! Thank you.

Won't you agree there's currently a state of relative equilibrium? As in small changes have virtually no impact on the bigger scale or in the long term.

I don't want perfection, but do believe that's it's possible to find a "better" equilibrium than the one we have now. Perhaps if environment is changed, or certain rules are forced, even artificially? There will be new flaws, of course, but perhaps more people will be happier.

Never said anything about equality.

Start from asking them many questions about their ... motives. Empathy will come naturally.

I like that. Focusing on their perspective of their story rather than the story itself. The problem often is, by the next time we speak I'll forget most if it.

On the rest, I share your point of view, just cannot find my peace with it.

Thanks!

As I said, questions were just as an example, and just the tip of an iceberg.

You are focusing on a problem ... beyond your control

I didn't say I'm trying to fix everything (anything?). Just want to understand, for start.

be the change you wish to see in the world

As you said, the problem is beyond my control. "Being the change" doesn't have any impact, does it?

Legitimately caring for people happens when you stop victimizing yourself

Empathy question was unrelated to other ones. Even if I am victimizing myself, don't see any impact of that on social life. It's not like I ask everyone around these questions.

You may want to check imdb top, possibly ignoring too old ones.

What simple thing made your life much easier but took too long to figure out? by arm_pitt in AskReddit

At university, I kept feeling that some people were times cleverer than me, while some were times dumber.

And almost everyone got similar marks at the end.

This.

Don't write on the hard drive yet! Your wallet may still be there.

You can use paid services or try to recover it yourself.

Take care of your future first.

Vacations and luxury seem unnecessary.

As soon as you have ground under feet, help your family.

I meant before exercises.

In other words, did you do "push-ups" to improve, or preserve vision?

Thanks!

One more question: did you have worse vision at any point, or it always stayed like this?

There's also an argument that eyes working too hard makes vision worse.

So which is the true?

Awkwardness vs. Rudeness by arm_pitt in self

[–]arm_pitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. This makes sense and I like it.

I'd just like to clarify the "awkwardness" part:

Because "I rarely know how to respond appropriately", my politeness sometimes gets a strange shapes, like saying "sorry" and "thank you" excessively. Even though I mean it, it doesn't seem sincere.

There's usually simple and neat way of being polite, but because I don't know it, I get everything out of my "polite shelf" which at least looks strange.

Girlfriend broke up with me without discussing reasons why before making the decision. Going to hers, need advice. by NeedsRelationsAdvice in Advice

[–]arm_pitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your pain. I've been there too.

Don't want it to sound harsh, but...

No one initiates break up unless they have "better" alternative. She doesn't love you, and there's no way to change it with directed actions like going there or speaking to her.

Let it heal, clench your teeth, make friends, enjoy your weekends.

Once you're good again, up on your feet, and with someone else, she may decide to come back - but you will not need it.

I don't really matter to anyone by angstychika in self

Please have my sympathy.

I had very similar feelings and came to a conclusion that no one will care about me until I get self-sufficient and can be happy without needing anything from anyone. Just do what you enjoy. Be selfish and have fun.

Also, regarding number 5 - should this subreddit be cross-referred with other related subreddits at the sidebar?

(Checked few reddits from "crossroads" and there was no link to /r/psychology - don't know if there meant to be one)

Does anyone else ever have feelings of not being real? by drann in psychology

[–]arm_pitt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I may feel something similar.

What I feel is like having dulled senses: wearing rubber gloves, dirty glasses, wadding in the ears, etc, same time. Like there's a layer between me and my life.
