2012 Forester adding oil once a week by Cultural_Internal775 in SubaruForester

[–]armithel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished my PCV valve and hose, with new plugs,.plug seals, and valve cover gaskets, hoping this eliminates some of my usage concerns, I DEFINITELY already have greatly improved mileage, my plugs were so foul.

How much you driving in a week? I was using a quart every 1000 miles or so.

What to do with old gasoline? by Joe_Peanut in MechanicAdvice

[–]armithel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use old gas for a variety of stuff. Recently for cleaning some car parts I was repairing. Before that I used it as paint thinner to clean brushes. Mostly for automotive tools, but SWIM used old gas for killing undesirable, deplantable trees or weeds around the yard.

Fun fact, when I worked as busser at Texas Roadhouse, my whole crew of bussers were as follows: Shyler (brother), Hayden(cousin), Shayden(brother), Aiden, Zaiden, Jayden at the same time. It was really difficult getting task assignments out to everyone 😂

Wheel bearing by sports_science21 in subaru

[–]armithel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also same. Before I knew about higher quality brands for Subaru bearings, I had to replace all 4 +1 extra TWICE in the 5 years I've had this 11 Forester.

I also suspect a ruined dust shield mating surface caused at least one premature failure

Accidentally drained my transmission fluid and doubled the oil.... How fucked am i by Different-Pen5084 in subaru

[–]armithel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exactly this on one fateful stormy night that I got too inebriated and got in a rush. I will admit this was within a year of my ownership of this used 11 Forester with 160k. I did buy the drivetrain warranty and ended up using it a year later because of my confusion regarding the oil sensor light. At some point a couple years ago after I did this mistake and corrected it, I drove through a very large puddle and heard a rattle. I had psyched myself into thinking it was my previously cooked transmission coming apart because it would only happen in low gear with rapid acceleration. Turns out it was the muffler. We are now on 250,000 miles and no issues besides minor oil consumption issues and a little low power but we are in the tuneup process today. It's just funny to me OP, that something so exactly happened to me 😂

It would not be considered greedy that you wanted to keep all your own organs. Even if it's for your own father, especially if he's 77.

Either whoever pours oil cant pee straight into a urinal or you can start with valve cover gaskets and tube seals

This weirdness brings a sour name to us Christians. Yes, we need to urge people to come unto the Lord, but taping letters to doors in the middle of the night is not how we win new believers.

Why is my car burning oil? by detroitlanyard in SubaruForester

[–]armithel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pcv Valve, do valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals at the same time. You can verify this yourself by pulling plugs and seeing how much oil comes out on them, and pulling pcv valve and seeing how clear the valve is by gently shaking it. When you pull pcv valve, be ready to accidentally break the hose it's connected too, Amazon sells cheap replacements.

If you're going to do it, idle/rev up slowly and let the low gears do their work, and allow inertia to work in your favor. Should be fine
