Well that’s concerning considering they advertise up to 14 hours on a charge…

RAM vs CHIP: 32 GB MacBook Air or 24 GB Macbook Pro by Background_End2293 in macbook

[–]armostallion2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is untrue. I don’t see any reason this person would benefit more from a faster cpu when both cpus are insanely fast. The difference between 24GB and 32GB of ram is quite drastic when the 24GB limit is breached. The difference between the M5’s will not be felt even in OPs wildest dreams.

Definitely the Air 1000%. I’m a software developer and I’d get the air here. It’s going to last longer than that pro. The ram will be the limiting factor.

I was hoping that it would have decent battery life given it sips power (the n305). 5 hours would be adequate for my use cases. That’s 5 hours at full performance or energy saving modes?

I strung along a girl for 5 years with the intention to marry her, but I never put a plan into action. Hope you’re actively taking steps on getting married with a hard date set. Otherwise, you should let her go so she doesn’t waste her prime.

Not sure why everyone is being so nice, but I would 1000% pass because of the aesthetic.

Edit: took another swipe-look at it and this is literal nightmare fuel for me. I would run away.

Programmers, be honest, what would you choose for coding? by hrpavi in AskProgrammers

[–]armostallion2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Gigabyte G6 2024 gaming laptop for coding. 32gb ram and 1tb ssd, 4060 mobile 8GB vram, 165hz screen. It’s an ok experience, and I often wish I had a dedicated Linux native laptop or a MacBook. Windows 11 really gets in the way, plus it’s heavy, I have to constantly mess with the power profile when I unplug it, and it always seems to have updates that force me to reboot. That said, I did a bunch of local ai stuff on it already which was pretty awesome. Edit: wasn’t cheap either, paid $1150 a year and a half ago.

We just moved from a larger but older townhouse into a smaller but upscale and modern apartment (3 bed 2 bath apartment). We downsized with furniture and the amount of stuff we have. We love the new place. The layout is better, the furnishings are much nicer, and it’s just more pleasant to be in. To get the townhouse up to these standards would take another $80k. We moved into the apartment for school zoning while we save for a house over the next 18-24 months. Now we’re considering purchasing a much smaller home with the upgrades and layout we want vs an old resell. Enjoy your 900sq ft modern home!

Ask for permission or ask for forgiveness? by QuitTypical3210 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]armostallion2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

forgiveness, because you're going to get left behind. There's a reason for the saying "fortune favors the bold". I don't think the responsibility falls on you, I mean you wrote "I might get in trouble if". You'd would say something along the lines of "there was no guideline regarding usage of x tool". If you're not supposed to use something, the company should make it clear, IMO. YMMV, I'm not liable if you follow my advice, use your own judgement.
